Hes also one of the most overatted djs in the wolrd in my opinion richie hawtin has been his crutch for a long time, fair play for playing some different stuff though its about time. Cause the last time i heard him he had the bass cut for around 30 - 40 minutes before someone pointed it out pure hilarity.

that's interesting. i've seen ritchie hawtin 3 times now and have never really enjoyed it after hearing soooo much hype. i thought ricardo smashed it on saturday.

lol blatantly he had so many class a's floating around inside him. that mustve been so jokes, poor guy who had to tell him!

jubz, i dont know of any sets, i think i might have one of him and hawtin ill have to check, but i'd recommend giving some of his releases a go...

Ascho (on Cadenza) is his recent masterpiece, very very much for the head, very intricate... its worth getting yourself mellow and focused before going at it

Alcachofa (on Playhouse) is also absolutely incredible in parts, and then there are loads and loads of 12s and remixes, which vary in quality imo

villalobos does tend to be kind of smashed when playing his sets... but how else can he hold it down for 6+ hours at a time. five hours in and that thing with the bass cut could happen to any of us.

i played a four hour set one time and by the end i just literally hardly cared anymore it all went a bit surreal

but to be fair i was playing to a bunch of mugs so think that might have had an influence

they didnt even dance to gunman or dooms night

I heard about this...My mate texted me when Ricardo dropped Left Leg... its just the tip of the iceberg in terms of minimal-dubstep.

A mate of mine is on Jay Haze's label, Contexterrior- he's been exploring some dubby techno stuff so I got him to come down to the last dubstep thing in Notts- he said it was inspiring.

...Dexter is so simple yet so deep- I was at Sonar 05 first time I heard it. Took my breath away. Cannot wait to hear Ricardo's remix of Request Line.

one of my favourite villalobos 12s is on that label, 8.5 with jay haze, so sick

I've heard Hawtin kill it a number of times. He did a set in one of the first weeks that Avalon (formerly Limelight) opened. Hard techno and vodka all night.

i meant him remixing existing tracks inna minimal style

but as to your question... i dont think he'd make dubstep which is as weighty as the norm, but in that process he would no doubt bring a completely unique sound. i'd love to hear what he'd do with percussion within a halftime framework

to be honest, would like to hear a lot more dubstep which has less emphasis on weight to be honest, theres a lot to be said for bright, airy, light, dance music, it means the emphasis is switched to other elements. variety is the spice of life, and there are a lot of incredible, weighty dubstep producers already...

and to be fair, some of luciano's tunes sound absolutely banging on a fat system
