OK, can someone explain laptop soundcards to me? E.g. would it be sufficient if I was to get that VAIO and this: http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/F ... -main.html
that'd do. but im not that keen on m-audio soundcards.... ive always found them a bit ******.
a neater solution would be an Echo Indigo I/O. its a pcmcia card so just slots inside the laptop. it gives you a stereo out and a stereo in, and good drivers to boot.

or if you wouldnt mind using your laptop for traktor dj etc then you could consider the indigo DJ

if you need loads of inputs outputs etc etc then look at the emu 1616. its pricey but v good from what ive read/heard.
