Just wana say altho it is inevitable certain tunes get named/attention at whatever stage... I am really feeling the way Circle and Clairvoyants hold back on tracklistings and naming tunes

Frustrating as it can be, it keeps it more abt the overall sound and the camp representing it

Out to them man keeping it special.

You know what, someone asked me a name of a tune on this weeks tune via msn and i gave it to them straight, some tunes that are or have been around for a while ill let off..
Spess UK tracks ill give man the name.. sometimes Kismet & Feva looks at me funny, i just stick 2 fingers and tell them to relax loooooooool

depends really though on the track, some you want to keep and play as long as possible for yourself.
I know Kismet plays tracks untill he hears others playing then will put down.. thats about 3-4 weeks.. names can run after that lol

Clairvoyants are just going on Sick right about now!

yes big up shax sbr and jason , smashing it

circle pushing the uk sound , all about supporting the homegrown producers.. making our own scene rather than just follwing the rest.. thats the way 2 do it.. big up beeza, deep tek and don morris, groucho, gadget, kismet and ic (im sure tippa can add more names) cause all of them r carving out a certain area in house and is nice 2 see....

it's all about the music innit, whatever your vibe is.

the naming tunes thing is interesting though because in some ways it goes against the love and joy of playing and spreading music - djs want to have the things they discover exclusive to them - understandable.

but ultimately a good dj doesn't have to rely on secrecy.

the deep thing is going on right now tho serious!

I couldn't pretend to be a massive deep house fan but it's all the deeper stuff that's come from this particular scene that have really caught my attention.

Onwards and upwards!
what is of value and wisdom for one man seems nonsense to another.

Well tahts what were saying, people were saying its boring, why we playing it when we could be playing funky rtc... but we just hear something different, and now the uk element is pushing through people are standing up and listening, it also helps that funky is going down the pan with all this dance element going on with skank this and skank that, and all the mcs jumping on board.

Heard Versitiles Funky Slide tune today, ill say no more!

I much prefer it when DJs don't ID every tune, it keeps things interesting and means that you have much longer to appreciate a tune before it's battered to death by every Tom, Dick and Harry. Also if people kept things like Migraine Skank, We need some more girls in here & that We goin Ayia Napa tune secret then we wouldn't have to hear them so much.

I don't see it going against the love and joy of spreading the music, unless you're really really into PLUR. Playing tunes out is about spreading the music as much as telling everyone what it is. A good DJ doesn't have to rely on secrecy for sure, but a bit of secrecy can make a good DJ (or collective of DJs - Circle) even better.

I dunno abt that.

I'm a listener in this music and a dj producerman in other scenes and i think it brings it back to what its all abt- the music and the sound! Gets people talking abt the music and the sound rather than the artists or personalities making it.

I always said: if u only released a genre of music on white label (no artist or track info) and people had to buy on sound alone, then we wld quickly see who the real dj's were and not just the followers.

(btw Im liking the new deeper UK stuff but mixing it up with the US stuff definitely adds something too)

I'm all for a bit of mystery; always loved the idea of those early hip hop guys like bambaata sticking white labels on their records to hide the names of those obscure breaks they'd found.
But there is this one track off a Circle rinse set from like last month that I'm desperate to know the name of. Has a vocal on it, something like "so merciless, ain't got no feelings".
If anyone has any info, be much abliged!
Oh and on the deep house tip - www.myspace.com/ironcurtis
