help please!!

my new needle produces a massive feedback hum when the volume and bass are turned up - its a shure m447. the cartridge is about 6 months old and the stylus is brand new - my crappy old stylus doesnt of the same model doesn't do it.

any ideas??

could it be the headshell wiring aren't correctly colour-coded? i don't remember paying much attention at the time due my inept use of the old needle nose bastards...if so does anyone know of how i can find out what the correct colour-coding is?

sounds more like a bunk needle/stylus to me, or possibly improper mounting of the cartridge.

headshell connection color codes are standardized:

red=right, non-inverted (positive)
green=right, inverted (negative)
white=left, non-inverted (positive)
blue=left, inverted (negative)

sound rob-oh ! i'll re-wire it soon cos i think the stylus and cart should be in good condition.
