Flying Lotus beats
So I know it's not dubstep, but FlyLo's beats have this perfect sloppyness to them that is so hard for me to nail. I can't describe it, I guess you'd have to listen to Los Angeles to know what I'm talking about, but all the drum hit's are just a little bit off, but in a really unique and distinct way. Anyone know what I'm talking about or how to accomplish this? Cheers.
Just record in using your midi keyboard/mpc or whatever...
and don't quantise - it'll be slightly off unless you can record drums with perfection haha, if so just move them slightly out of time.

Well yeah I mean that's kind of obvious, but still there's like this distinct pattern, especially on the hihat and snare work I think. Like some are early and some late. I know it sounds like I'm answering my own question here but I'm just wondering if he actually places every single hit manually are if there's some sort of function or template that he uses?
I'm really not sure what he uses set-up wise but i wouldn't be surprised if he used a mpc or some sort of sampler... so its doubtful he sits there and clicks in audio.. then again I may be wrong.
