thats interesting, i'd always heard that screw modified his turntables to do it
i've seen him live and i've seen a lot of videos and he never played stuff slowed down live from what i saw. not to say he didn't have modded decks, but i never saw them. plus he probably realized it's better on time to just record a set normal speed first.

i wouldve thought it'd change the way you'd mix too, how long you'd leave tracks in for and suchlike

i have some of his old tapes and he plays tracks for like 15 minutes sometimes

I saw somewhere Screw modded his tape deck to record his mixes, speed up the tape record the mix then then it plays back slow on a normal deck. But, I think he got the idea from playing 12"s at the wrong rpm.

yeah kids used to get the cassette player walkmans and mess with em so they'd play tapes slower. that was right when screw was getting a fanbase
