also
as soon as forums get above, i dunno, 10 members, there'll be whiners, its what happens when you let people anonymously talk on the internet about opinion based subjectsSpire wrote:thats a good true statement.Q23 wrote:Many people agree that 90% of music is crap, however, they will not agree on which 10% is good.
and are there as many whiners on all the other music forums out there? whats the deal?
steppa4ever is right
i think i get his frustration or the massive overproduction and overexposure of stuff and people who are not
-experimenting freely
-concerned with doing sth new
-in for the fame (only?)
-the same people like in the beginning (this one being plain truth: sometimes we like what we are used to)
apart from the obvious 'times a changing' and all i believe the moment that his whole beat movement of post jungle bass heavy urbanship became sth with a tag (dubstep) it was bound to lose sth.
gained much lost some.
now, if you are for the quality or the quantity, sort out.

I agree 100%. I'm always happily surprised by scouting around t'internet & DSF for new producers with different takes on dubstep and you'll always find someone who has the same tastes as you that has added their own style to it and created something fresh that you do like.Autopilot wrote:I always have these friends who are like, "music sucks now" "movies suck now" "tv sucks now" "shit was better before..." etc etc etc
You know what I always tell them?
"You're not looking hard enough."
Just keep listening!
I will say however.....nothing beats 80's cartoons

i just said it to take away from the negativity of saying dubstep is dying in a dubstep forum

back in the day... i remember i didnt appreciate a fair amount of the tunes coming out, skreams tek-a-pil is one that comes to mind even tho the fact its not that old shows i havent been listening to dubstep for more than 2 - 3 years.
but now, with the emergence of grotty producers like borgore, excision, datsik, bla bla i have found my niche and fuckin love it.
think about it from the opposite point of view. stop bein selfish old timer

steppin' since late 05- early 06. first off, time is constant, therefore nothing will ever "stay the same". funny thing about music is there is going to be a new styles of a specific genre that may contrast that genre but will somehow still be categorized under that one genre. example; eastern jam compared to anything by the digital mystikz. same genre two different sounds.
however, with dubstep, I feel that all the music made under the title is recognizable with those in the know, for four main reasons; tempo, huge bass, darkness, and minimalism.
someone posted on the first page of this thread that music is an ongoing process and i completely agree. there will never be "one" sound in dubstep. get used to it. same goes for hip hop, drum and bass, and everything else except for maybe country. maybe dude should start bumpin' willie nelson records, all that shite sounds the same to me.
peace and dub

in a way i can see what you are saying. its an evolution of the sound that's going on it seems. i have a harder time finding stuff like horror show or gud money now in days (can anyone recommend some newer stuff like that?), but there are artists like breakage that pull some great tracks like late night or rain. the scene also has artists like 2562, F, Joe, Synkro, DFRNT, Sines, and Ramadanman who are doing a sound that i am REALLY into.
as with the people you didn't like though, i'd have to disagree on the part of Jakes and Suhk Knight, since i think they got a great sound. Caspa released louder and just did a great remix of it, both of which i think are great.
i'd say just to keep looking for stuff, and if you cant find anything, there is always the older stuff.
