Stupid things u do while producing

smoke marijuana compulsively. especially when I am really into what I am making. the joints bunn like nothing...... its expensive.. lol.

I've got so many tracks named after films or just random words from the tv that was on at the time, it really does make things difficult to find doesn't it.

Sometimes I don't bother changing the name before I send out a tune, one time I sent a guy a tune called "pooptron_2" or something like that

Yeah I do all the above.. I'll play this loop over and over and just dance around my room and watch tv and shit.. also i'll gear up my midi keyboard and twist knobs and shit endlessy for pure enjoyment.. i like to play my shit instead of just listening to it but then i can never seem to remember what knob i twisted or whatever to get that sweet effect.

Something weird I do... when I'm done working on a tune, which is usually around 1-2am, I turn off all the lights in the room, close my eyes, and play back what I've done with my back to the computer. I try and get into the mindset of a listener and not a producer. I feel like the song sounds completely different then...

that not stupid thats a good thing to do its also one of the hardest things to do and i think some people dont do this at all.

dude this is something lots of people should do. I do the same. Listen your own tracks without seeing the visuals of your daw. If the eye cant see anything the ear will be forced to listen better.

i have a bad habit of getting together a simple 4 bar loop and sending it out to a couple friends over aim and msn. i then get a false sense of accomplishment from doing so and stop working on the tune.

also every time i get bored or frustrated (about once every 15 minutes), i go to the kitchen looking for food.

I get this allot. I find It is very hard to critique my own shit from an outside perspective no matter what kind or art I am doing.... A trick that I use is to pretend that I'm looking at something someone else painted or listening to something that someone else made. It works wonders becasue I find I judge my own shit harder than I judge anyone elses.
