Post by sparkyidr » Thu Jun 18, 2009 1:21 pm

Hiya.

My name's Mark, and I'm new to this Dubstep malarky.

Just made my first tune :-

I make loads of other sorts of music (Hardcore, house, breaks DnB etc)

Anyways.. any feedback, or pointers to good stuff to listen too would be much appreciated.

Mark

technically sounding very good, but you've got to darken the notes on the bassline if you want a real dubstep sound. far too melodic, probably as a result of the genres you've worked in before. listen to dubstep tracks and you'll notice you don't get conventional melodies...

I agree, but it does sound like it should be played to a house crowd.

not really, dubstep minus darkness has no place anywhere, it's just dubstep that has failed.

Thanks guys.
Yeah, I agree.
I was saying to a mate last night, that I thought it sounded like "me trying to do dubstep", rather than a real dubstep tune.

tis my first attempt, so hopefully I will get more of a feel for it as I get more into it.
I'm kinda late to the dubstep party, but really liking what I have heard, and this forum seems like a pretty helpful place. Have managed to grab a few mixes to have a listen to and stuff.
