this this this and this.
respect to all the artists getting paid to do they thing, love you, but fuck scion, red bull, bacardi and whatever else...
hype? sure, but straight up, the vibes at every sponsored event ive been to have been shallow & off.
apparently weve traded traditional multi national media corporate control for multi national whatever bullshit has money to burn corporate control.
sorry, not feeling the shituation at all.
and its not just dubstep. what they are doing in Hiphop pisses me off more than anything. the scion presence at scribble jam last year made me want to vomit.
*edit* and for anyone who doesnt think this is a big deal.... it might not seem like a big deal locally, when they just do a few shows here and there... but if you add up everything they are involved in, scion is EASILY the largest promoter of bass driven edm in the US. combine that with all the other corporations jumping on board... and its getting worrisome to me. the money they are spending may seem decent to us, the artists & promoters... but its NOTHING to them compared to tradition advertising. which is why they fly in "huge" djs and have no cover. its hard to argue against them, they seem to take a very hands off approach... so essentially it comes down to a matter of intent & vibes. i argue you can FEEL at these parties that its a logo (vs logos) worship ritual. sigil magic energy harvesting. i just feel it.... and i think its worth discussing...
