I want to build a pair of 18" scoops - Any1 inthe kno?

Melbournes soundsystems are never going to get better

I want to start to build something in 2007.
Starting with some nice scoops bins.

Been looking through www.speakerplans.com
But cant really find detailed specs on building a big fuckoff scoop cabinet.

Has anyone got any past experience with making soundsystems?
or Can forward me someone in the know who might have a detailed design/plans?

It might take fookin time to save cash and get a finished result,but just not the same going out here after DMZ in Leeds.

i daydream sometimes about being middle aged with a house and a bit of a yard. like a lot of middle aged guys i'll take up weekend carpentry, but instead of making coffee tables or a gazebo or whatever, i'll craft myself a nice, weighty back yard soundsystem and paint it up all nice. then every summer it'll be backyard reggae parties at my place with a tub full of red stripes and jerk chicken on the bbq. if i find the right neighbour we could even have clashes over the back fence.

from my understanding, the lab subs are a difficult build. they are of a more advanced design. plus, if you dont make the both the rear access panels are airtight every time, both of the drivers in it will blow apart.

why dont you just build a stack of 1850's? they have the plans there at speakerplans and theyre basically the same design as the looney bins. the gramps system in bristol uses these bins and ive heard nothing but good things, especially with dubstep.

gotta build 4 of them in a stack tho to hit 30hz. why scoops in particular?

im building a small stack myself right now actually. ive purchased all the wood and the driver for an X1 sub, but i've had zero time to work on it lately. probally gonna run 2 x1's, 4 hd-15's and an mt-102 over top of em. one side at a time. eventually id like to have 2 stacks like this.

you might well be right, never built cabs myself. A well-known rig in Bristol (Dissident) have about 8 LABs and they are just unbelievable. btw Gramps is based in Brighton.

Can anyone say if these would be good or not?

Mungo's Hi-Fi use Scoops and had there set-up at Outlook launch party and it was sick. Any advice anyone could share would be appreciated as my mates and me are planning on make a system and hopefully starting up a night.

Half way through making 4 Labs.
They can be a bit tricky but once you've done the first and worked out your method they're not bad.

Never heard any DIY box as good on sub as these (and they're better than a lot of pro bins too)

plenty of people on speaker plans will do builds for you if you pay them just gotta find the right person!

Two 12" Eminence LAB12's
Took the first one fairly slowly over about 8 weekends getting everything set up. Taking about 3 days per box now.

We put curves in all the corners which was fun!
