no.. think about what your saying.. "if I did it.. if I won it..." dood, your a person, not a multi-billion dollar corporation.. so actually if you did that, it might be pretty cool.. coz you would be giving back to your people.. ;)

in a world where pretty much everything has been bought out, took over, exploited, and drained for every penny.. can't we keep the music, and shows that the people made up, and created in the hands of the people?

in the 90's hardcore was our music, jungle, breakbeat hardcore and the like.. you can hear within the evolution of the music in that culture the day that the corporations got involved.. if you start with '92 classics, and work your way towards '99.. you'll hear it around 1997-1998.. right about when the scene started to take a dump on it's self..
If you're a real fan of dubstep and you look at a lineup int he UK, for say like.. any random Thursday night it seems, they consistently beat the shit out of anything we'll ever hope to get outside of WMC or a festival... you don't want that just once? You don't want that in your backyard.
Dood that is like a local line up in the UK.. if you wanna see something like that in the USA.. book 6blocc, Babylon System or any of the other talented artists in the USA.. Check your back yard fool, you might find something interesting..

people seem to forget that the UK and europe are kinna like states now, and traveling from london to paris is kinna like flying from LA to Chicago..

WAKE DA FUCK UP..

They just want to associate their brand with Dubstep. You don't own it, nobody does, not all of us, not one of us. Music just is. Nobody has any right to say what goes and what doesn't. Especially you. Especially me. You don't like it, please don't go. As for me, I wish I wasn't wiping my baby and his ass down all night and could have had a chance to go beard stroke in the corner. It would have made my fucking life to be able to go out and party just then, first time in almost a year really going out. Yea, I don't give a shit if it's George Bush throwing the party. I don't care. I love Dubstep, but I don't own it. Neither do you.

Dood.. the PEOPLE MAKE THE MUSIC.. the PEOPLE LISTEN TO IT.. how can you say the PEOPLE DON'T HAVE A VOICE..

the PEOPLE OWN DUBSTEP.. and it's NOT FOR THE CORPORATIONS TO TAKE, CONTROL, INFILTRATE, NOR DESTROY..

the PEOPLE DECIDE IF IT LIVES OR DIES..

it's funny.. I bet skream & benga made some loot at pure filth, and that wasn't a corporate event.. and they look like they had fun..

@the scion thing..
the dj's other then the opener didn't really look that into it..

the MC yelled at us for smoking weed.. security kept telling us where to stand.. people where fighting, and moshing, and punching random people in the crowd..

DA FUCK..

scion can't get 200-300 people together without that shit happening.. and pure filth gets 800-900 people without that same bullshit..

why is toyota sponsoring getting people wasted?

red bull, i get it... liquor & beer... lol of course i get it...

cars? cause the venue obviously is selling drinks? i mean every time ive been to scion parties everyone is gettin super wasted lol... its fun and all but yo, people die drinking and driving and i cant recall even a single mention of safety, isnt this their opportunity to do that?

kinda hard to emphasize public transportation when your schtick is selling cars "united by individuality" lol

oh and wheres my electric car?
   you got a huge point right there..

Sell out.

Just kidding. Big up. Scion puts on dope parties and nobody here can take ownership of Dubstep as has been stated. Nothing left to say here. I don't see any real complaint outside of the name of the promoter.

I don't know what you guys are bitching about. I was approached by Scion a few years ago about a dubstep show I was putting on and they didn't even want to pay for the sound. They just wanted to hand out their propaganda and leave and we would be happy about it  I told them and their piece of shit cars to fuck off.

lol.. no not exactly, but we live in a strange world.

the drinking age is 21 because madd campaigned to stop drinking & driving amongst young people. but now alot of university types say that making drinking illegal for 18-20s put the kids more at risk because its driven into hiding, and kids are dying now more from binge drinking, so the law change has had a negative effect...

im not sayin scion promotes binge drinking lol, the law may tho, and the law has to do with cars, and toyota is the #1 car manufacturer.

so, everytime a promoter or venue does a show its either 18 or 21 and that has everything to do wih.... cars.

when alcohol companies advertise they always remind you to "drink responsibly" ....

imagine doing a commercial for beer where everyone is driving?

so a car commercial where everybody is drinking?

should be like a free scion taxi afterwards or some shit....

Personal politics attatched to music is always a sensitive issue.

Nobody on this board can claim to not in any way participate in the success of corporations, so I guess it's a case of what is ok to participate in and what isn't. Then it's a case of who gets to decide and then we are back at square one.

We live in their world, adapt, use it to your advantage, true rebellion is in the fruition of sub cultures within the prison of this physical reality. I'd say we're doing pretty well considering.

Jaybird, smoking weed is illegal in America and in most other countries as well. Even the more liberal ones for the most part. I promise you that most parties in America you'd get thrown out for smoking, let alone smoking weed.

Also at Human? do you really need to be reminded not to drink and drive? It says not to drink and drive on every fucking bottle at the club innit. That goes with what was said above about consuming cars because you saw a sign on the wall. It's about personal responsibility. I take it I won't find Jaybird at a Scion show then?

No, he'll be there, because he's a fucking hypocrite. You want to talk shit on the free show, but you'll still go to the free show. You invalidate yourself when you talk in a circular manner.

Unless you have a card and a prescription or recommendation, it's illegal. That's in every state. In most states it's illegal regardless. Cali bud is solid as fuck though, you're right about that.

yeh, kinda a damper on the hype to discuss the 13,000 people a year in the US who die in drunk driving related accidents. you know thats more than the # of people who OD on all illegal drugs combined?

no, i dont need to be reminded, chances are i took the subway lol... but... i dont sell cars.....

i could get into a metaphysical discussion about sigils, talismanic magic, branding, energy harvesting and the miserable philosophy of "united by individuality" and everything that implies... but i have a feeling the board isnt ready for those arguments lol....

just imagine, a beer commercial where everyone is driving.....

In my old town there was a local board where everyone would sit and brag about how wasted they were the other night and stuff like that. Regularly. Nobody ever mentioned that there are free cabs and things like that. I have never heard the MC get on the mic and mention that people should drive safely. That doesn't happen at most shows. I get what you are trying to say. They are falsely advertising a sense of Unity in being an individual, and to be an individual you must own the car that other individuals own... i.e. a Scion. I fully understand how that is flawed logic. I get it. I don't care if they sponsor parties that serve alcohol.

Jaybird has already admitted he was there. That is what I take issue with is the hypocrisy of his position. Don't support it if you don't like it is all I'm saying. Don't go. I imagine Human would probably skip the party. Jaybird isn't so full of zeal and principle when it comes to a free chance to see Zomby and Joker. He took that opportunity and ran with it, had a good time and then complained when others complained because it's cool to hate on corporations. Whatever. Anybody who doesn't make their own clothes out of fabric they have grown themselves, eat food they are growing themselves(vegan only) and listening to music they made themselves on instruments they built themselves, can't say they themselves aren't a corporate shill.

You have to RSVP for those parties. You understand what that means right? You have to actually email them to ask them to get in. That means you had to take action other than simply being bored and in the neighborhood to get in to the show. You had to actually say "I want to be at this shit" For anyone to do that and then complain about how Scion is throwing the party is stupid. Not once, when sending the email, but twice once receiving the email and then deciding to actually go, then when actually going... 3 times you have abandoned those principles. Then to stick around the show long enough to know the MC doesn't want the party to get shut down.
