Drugs are for having fun. Not for making something of yourself.

Personally i only smoke weed (hallucinogens don't like me), and rarely do when i'm producing. It makes your sound perception weird, so the mix always sucks. Just do it soon as you wake up on a day off, nice steaming mug of coffee and a fresh mind, ready to be dirtied by whatever dirts your are makings.

You really think that anyone who did anything great was caned 24/7? These are mostly myths i bet. Any coincidence that most of them "druggy types" were from the 60's? When it was seriously in vogue to take drugs?

Except Hunter S, biggest fucking blagger in the world.

I have to say i would love to try DMT. Scared though.

are you kidding? all significant types of music since the 20th century except perhaps very modern rock (which is fucking shit anyway, lets be fair) have pretty much revolved around drug use. weed and jazz, acid and the 60s, speed then coke then ecstasy and now perhaps ketamine...

I am an avid drug user, i am in no way against their use!

I play jazz guitar. It is extremely hard to play when sober, let alone baked! It is physically and mentally challenging! Try playing the changes on giant steps after 5 bowls dude.
I know there is a connection between drugs and music. I just believe that it is more to do with enjoying and appreciating music than creating it. Drugs certainly give you ideas.

Bangin' tunes by the way

thanks djerkov :)
im not sure ghost mutt, the main proponents of wonky deny that k's got anything to do with the scene, and the accusation is quite insulting, but yet i dont quite believe them.
minimal techno on the other hand, gallop away!

This drugs topic is still going rofl :R: :v:, production on anything seems to be quite mad as i tend to forget things all the time...

yaa nice cup of tea for production with a cig break after a while! When i smoke weed i just look at the screen for about an hour trying to get perfect automation get really confused, before i know it an hour has passed, im not stoned so i do some work haha. But im getting a decent keyboard soon so i can jam and try and make good synths when stoned :!:

Gonna go round my freinds next week who has a zillion guitar pedals get stoned and try and get some intersting synth tones from doing that me thinks funness! xD

tend to work more on building sounds when im stoned cause i have the patience and i can just sit and fiddle, then arranging and mixing i do when im sober, tend to get the ideas better.

its funny i was smoking soo much when i first started producing id spend weeks at a time high just writing. then i quit for a while and my style got more aggressive, im much more laid back when im high, Hyphy when im not. like some people said i couldnt focus right when i wasnt stoned but that definitly passed. tracks come out different depending on what mindstate your in. Unless im sloppy drunk i can work sober, redeyed, tipsy whatever makes no difference im a beast when its session time (only think keeping me sane when im away from my shit job, haha 8) )

I'm a stoner, but I figured out that its better for me to start sober, get a bit inspired by being a bit stoned(not messed) and finish it of by being sober, otherwise I'll just mess it up, Ill get bored and go over the top with drums and things!
Just let them inspire you a little, but not to much cause you won't consider taking a good look at the details!

I've done a few trax on acid. I've done an assload of tracks while blazed. I've done an assload of trax while sober. I feel I got the best results sober, usually, or like if I made the basis for the track while fucked up and then went back to develop it while sober.

I used to smoke pot every day so it would be difficult to produce sober back then... I only like occasionally now and I find no difference in my mood other than my hunger... I've never tried anything more than pot and prescrip. pills though, my friends did and then they BECAME BASSHUNTER FANS!

I usually almost always DJ stoned (weed with K-pins to chase the paranoia away...BEST COMBO OF ANY DRUG COMBO EVER!) but when I'm producing now I like to start a track sober so I'm more critical and then I'll forget about it for a day, get really blazed and edit the shit out of it.

This time is great for producing deep soundscapes and dark melodic works.

  this threads still popping off..

Yeah I man - you lot get off your box an produce if it makes you happy.. I personally like doing it sober - like someone said on this page I find myself being more critical of myself and spend more time on tracks.
