an LA crew did not THROW his party. yes, they helped promote the show bc they want to support their friends and colleagues that were playing there. No one has called them out or slandered them for doing so. They were probably the only avenue through which scion promoted to the regular dubstep party-goers at all, and that's not the type of promotion that causes problems. Not to mention that scion didn't steal PF's headliner.. PF had their own headliners locked down months prior.

I've made it a point not to call names, make accusations, or point fingers. You don't even live here, let alone understand the history of the underground out here, nor the social dynamics of whats happening between crews, so it might behoove you to hold the same reserve. attacking peoples characters and making backhanded insulted towards people you have never even met nor spoken to, based on rumors and what-not, really doesn't help your argument either.

i don't know what they conveyed to you, maybe they said "J and amy wanted to come" .. but that's not the same thing as saying we were trying to impose on to your show. If they didn't want us to come, they shouldn't have made it seem like we are more than welcome. if you felt imposed on that's your deal, but we never came to you tryin to push on to your shit. ever.

They went to the party, they enjoyed the show. They had to email to get on a list to get into that party. They had to ask to be on that list. It's not about corporations here, it's purely about them taking ownership of the scene and making decisions with regard to what is good and what is bad for everyone. i'm not in a crew and i have no reason to care about dubstep politics. but i do have reason to care about the quality of culture, not just in dubstep but in everything around me. no one declared that every person in the crowd was a "schmuck", just that a lot of people were acting in a way that demonstrated a blatant disregard for the music and quality of subculture. and that it's most likely because of their method of promotion. and i don't mean the la crew that was helping out, i mean the company itself and their promotions.

My position in the matter is that my job running a label, first and foremost is to promote the artists and make them money. My job isn't to maintain their integrity as artists when that money and demand for more commercial tunes inevitably comes. My only job is to promote their vision where it collides with our labels vision. That's not selling out, that's fulfilling a contractual obligation to our artists. Don't try and turn your hypocrisy around on me. I've not once said I don't support parties like these and then went to one.

My job isn't to sell out or make them sell out. My job is to put them in the position to have the choice to one day sign with a major label should that option arise. I'm not here to judge them for that. At the end of the day, it's their bills they have to pay and their mouth to feed. I pray daily that it happens for them and any person who dreams to make a living from their craft.

or maybe, actually on the underground side of things, so your label can be a MAJOR label in dubstep, not just a highway or a bridge for people to get to sell out status..
