Well , I heard everyone got some killer Scion flip-flops inna bag of free Scion shit @ that show.
Now you can show off your steadfast dedication to the 'cool' Dubstep friendly car manufacturer every time you go to the beach, or roll up to a Dubstep picnic in your newly purchased Scion. I mean, it's cool to buy foreign shit yeah ?

Where are my Smog , or Pure Filth Flip-flops huh - You guys are SO late . :o

how am I right wing for disliking the corporate takeover of the underground dubstep scene?

conservatives are FOR corporations, not me.. If you guys want dubstep poisoned with the money from the corporate fucks, that your problem.. I've seen what it's done over time, to many underground movements.. the tactic.. divide and conquer, and that whats going on here..

if you kids love your music, and love the shows, then you should kick scion and any other corporation that has nothing to do with dubstep, or dj culture in general the fuck out..

if the party was sponsered by technics, pioneer, rane, a medical marijuana club, or a dubstep label, I think that would maybe be okay, as long as they RESPECTED our culture..

SCION ONLY THROWS DUBSTEP PARTIES TO SELL CARS.. THEY DONT CARE ABOUT THE MUSIC, THE SHOWS, THE TALENT, and ESPECIALLY YOU!

For the record, Diplo's been playing dubstep since like 2005. But whatever.

i find it incredibly disappointing that someone can not bring up a topic of discussion and state their opinion on it without getting flamed and personally attacked. state your thoughts without trying to take a shit on peoples characters and careers. in reality none of you know each other well enough to be passing those types of judgments and then declaring them on a public message board. you guys are vultures. grow the fuck up.

if you're are down for corporations using dubstep to market their product, then you're down for it. but it's not right to tell those who aren't that they and their opinions are 'waste' and what not, just because they feel that it's something to stand up against. you have your opinions and we have ours. nothin personal, its just a discussion. so keep it purely on the discussion level.

really. if you all want to assimilate with corporations go ahead and assimilate, but don't throw missiles at those who are for independent business. a debate is a debate, everyone has brought up some good points, people are thinking about shit and some people feel strongly one way, some in the other. people have discussions and those tend to educate and inform, lead to critical thinking and objective perspectives on your own mind. this is a good thing. leave it at that.

jay i commend you for your passion and for your strength to stand up for what you believe in, even while in the line of fire. it takes a big man to hold his ground against a herd of bulls.

without the support of the people, corporations have nothing. when people put their money and mental state into backing corporations, they hand over their power to those corporations. the people are the ones who have real control, but we have not been taught how to use it. the real vampires are the huge companies that destroy independent local business. Corporations make it so people can't even own their own houses, because there is no way an individual can compete with a contractor flashing cash. I can't fathom why anyone would see this as a good thing. but as long as they keep us complacent and full of material goods people don't get angry. everyone is happy because the corps are giving us free stuff. people see something nice and shiny and they don't care who is offering it to them, or why, as long as they get theirs. but all that glitters aint gold. truth.

Kamala & Jay -

I can't speak for anyone else but I havn't attacked either of you, I found the whole thread puzzling as you don't really make sense which is why I asked the questions I did, none of which you answered which also puzzles me.

You have both attacked people in this thread and yet you continue to complain about other people doing the same thing. You have both attacked peoples characters in this thread purely because they don't agree with you. Again this is extremly puzzling to me.

Jay - You took the right wing thing out of context, in the context it was written in I stand by it because your forcing your opinion on people and when they don't agree with you they are berated by yourself and in a slightly more passive manor by your girlfriend. It's really not the best way to get your point across.

Your right this is a public forum so if you didn't expect the public to comment why post in the first place? You also slated people for not being knowledgable about the LA scene, again why post this on a public forum frequented by heds from all over the planet.

You are more than entitled to an opinion, but so is everyone else. You have made some pretty large assumptions about people that you know nothing about. In turn people have done the same to you but I am not one of them, you kinda painted a bullseye on your chest though which comes with the territory when starting an inflamatory thread on a public forum.

Your knowledge about corporations and their involvement in music comes across as being miniscule and in fact loaded with resentment and bitterness and pretty misguided, which again isn't really going to get people to even consider your point of view let alone agree with it. You may have a wealth of knowledge and experience on the matter but your actions in this thread don't really display this.

If your that against corporations then do something productive about it, I'd be more than willing to discuss this with you further in private, I have a long history of political activism both within my music, live performances and my personal life. I was banned from every UK tv and radio station in the mid 90's for simulating the slaying of our then Prime Minister John Major as part of my live show. It was a statement against the criminal justice bill (kinda like your anti rave bill but more encompassing).

I would have a lot more respect for you Jay if you answered the questions in my last post, specifically about the dj's playing these events.

I would also like to add, just so it's not misconstrued that yes I would play a Scion gig and in fact it is highly likely in the near future. That doesn't mean I'm pro corporations, it means that I have a career that would benefit from it and a family to feed. Like many people on this board, music is my career and has been for a fairly long time. There have been some pretty tasty deals on the table for me over the course of my career that I have turned down due to my personal beliefs, this isn't one of them, again if you wish to discuss the finer points of this I'm more than willing to do so in private.

Kamala - Maybe I'm old and behind the times but it really creeps me out that you would post that last statement to your boyfriend on a public forum, surely you see each other on a daily basis, have phones or aim etc etc. Again this really does nothing to strengthen your points of view as it's a pretty weird thing to do. As I said, maybe I'm just getting old, it could be all the rage these days for all I know.

I'm all for discussions on forums but the pair of you havn't really engaged in discussion at all, you've both made statements, plenty of them in fact but not really partaken in any kind of constructive discussion about the matter.

But what i AM saying is that we should not allow the direction of our music and culture to be controlled by corporations who have no genuine connection to it. We should be supporting each other and sticking together, keeping it in the hands of the community and keeping it real.. so that WE are the ones who benefit for the long haul when dubstep comes up.

just my $0.02 .. take it or leave it ..
with all due respect, the corporations arent changing the direction of the music. they are employing well knowledged scene experienced and good people to represent them. dubstep has come up, and people are benefitting from it. the ones that are have put in mad work, dues, and proper time into their skills and tunes and promotion ability and networks. who do you mean by we when you say, "so that WE are the ones who benefit". if you personally arent benefitting from it you cant necessarily say that nobody is, and should just be happy people are getting paid to do what they love even if its not you. thats the bottom line for me... and my .02.

no disrespect intended and not trying to argue for arguments sake, please understand that im not trying to attack anyone or throw drama around. just my thoughts. im sorry you feel people are hurting the music or the scene with sponsored events, but everyone i know involved with these events is a hard working good person with good intentions, not some guy in a suit in a board room trying to crush a scene or take advantage.

its the same in every industry, if im an authentic italian chef, im gonna be pissed when chef boyardee comes around and makes spaghetti look bad by making it circle shaped and smashing it in a can. and that doesnt mean that i cant find BOMB authentic spaghetti if i try. but hey they are putting people to work, and making a living. isnt that what we're all trying to do?
homie i had some BOMB ass spaghetti the other day - i hear you 100%

pizzeria arrivederci on 4th/robinson in san diego - go there. (hera, you too, you would love it)

kamala & jay you guys are some of the coolest i've come across in dubstep that being said-

i've got nothing but love for LA shows, even if COSTCO throws that shit. i can say that a pure filth sound system comes off about 100000 times more correct than said hollywood events(from my experience), but the two are apples and oranges, and both aren't guilty of letting you know what kind of show you're gonna go see.

i have yet to have a bad time in LA for a show... my car even got towed once, i had to walk/skate 20 blocks to get my wallet and go get it. still had a rad night.

parking tickets always, fuck that part of LA, they don't even have signs saying no parking they'll just ticket your shit or tow it. i'll be down to go throw rocks at the parking enforcement with you guys any day

keep in mind i am from new mexico - and sometimes even spinning records in some people's living rooms in cali has been a crazy experience...

don't let abundance sway your love guys :)

So your going to tell the guy that worked for the people that started all this bullshit, that he doesnt know whats up.. hahahahahahahaha...

keep in mind, I DID used to work for the SIS, CLEAR CHANNEL, LIVE NATION family.. I watched this going on from a long time ago.. Prior to that I threw Rave parties for 12 years of my life.. I watched that scene go up and down, watched all the corps that wanted to cash out..

Half of my life has been devoted to the underground, and I watched a scene I was devoted to, get forcefully taken above ground and exploited.

I just don't want to see that happen again.

dood I can't find it, so please quote them for me..

I can't really speak beyond what I experience, so I dunno if it's fair for me to answer anything on behalf of the people that have toured via scion..
