80s influenced dub music

Post by bills90 » Thu Jun 25, 2009 1:52 pm

Quick request for you guys. My two favorite dubstep tracks at the moment are:

2000f and Kamata - You Don't Know What Love Is
Thriller - Freak For You

Both are very influenced by 80s funk. Can you guys give me any other recommendations for dubstep tracks that are similar to these?

Yeah, I heard Freak For You on Sinden's radio show a few months back and he hinted at the artist being a mystery.

Surely anyone born between 1970 and 1990 will be influence by the 80s in someway?

Joker, Silkie, Heny G.

Good call!

Surprised no one thought of Skweee earlier for this young man!

I'd head straight for some kick ass Skweee action like Black Vaseline EP.

Another good intro would be the Skweee Tooth compilation album which Boomkat are selling really cheap at the moment.

Other Skweee names to hunt down would be............

Randy Barracuda
Mesak
Daniel Savio
Eero Johannes
Limonious
Mangrove

I can confirm skweee has a similar style.. also check out 'skweee tooth' compilation, a collection of various skweee artists - available on ramp records... great stuff
