Jaybird, the point is I used to live in LA. You keep acting like everyone is ignorant about the place and you're from the east coast US. Stfu. You've only just moved there yourself. You can't claim some place as your hood and some scene as your scene when you aren't even a cog in a very big wheel.

Not everyone who thinks Scion throwing those parties is a good thing is some corporate dick sucking piece of shit like you and Kamala and Pure Filth seem to think. It's fucking retarded for you to keep proclaiming that everyone who would support those events is somehow not fit to be in "your" scene when no person or even group of persons is responsible for a genre of music. Once "Dubstep" was, it was. It just IS. You don't control it, no corporation controls it. You and they might try and exploit it, but that doesn't hamper the good time of people who are there to have a good time and not fucking beard stroke and trainspot the DJ. Great, you couldn't get close to Joker. Good thing too, you might have ruined his asskicking vibe with your pussy aching.

Shut your fucking mouth and resume your role as a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of the remainder of %.0000001 of Dubstep like you are. Like everyone else is. Your opinion considered against the weight of every other opinion equally means approximately jack shit in the scheme of things.

That's my point. You make LA sound like a bunch of elitist pieces of shit, meanwhile most of LA had nothing to do with the drama in this thread directed at them for being "mindless". So in the end, the guy trying to make LA heads look like shit just made himself look fucking stupid. And last of all, you and your girlfriend having a fucking slap each other on the back pep talk type dialogue doesn't equal support for your ideas. Human? agrees that it sucks corporations throw the parties, but he's not acting like anyone who would attend or is indifferent is some piece of shit like you are acting. He's got class. Ironic, since the discussion is about Dubstep Class Warfare.

Your parties won't be "underground" unless by underground you mean empty. Truth.

Nothing you can formulate at this point will warrant a response from me any further, save it for Kamala.

If some crack dealer made a thread about "Just say no to crack... but only this guys crack down on 198th street" and the guy on 198th street happens to be that crack dealer who is his competition... would you feel he had your best interests at heart, or would you feel like maybe he just wanted to sell you his crack instead?

That's why we're pissed. Someone is talking down better rocks because they don't like the guy who is serving them. Waste.

ok.. this WOULD be a good point, if I actually represented one of the crews involved.. The truth is I don't.. I was just pointing out the FACT that there is no need to have a corporation involved if a promoter throwing UNDERGROUND events in a WAREHOUSE can bring 900+ people to a DUBSTEP show..

the truth is, WE DON"T NEED THE CORPORATIONS.. we can do it ourselves..

Why let them get their foot in the door for a possible and inevitable take over of our music, shows and culture...

Why don't you talk to some detroit techno heads, and ask how ford helped the D.E.M.F.. ask them how fords DETROIT TECHNO FOCUS really shaped the techno scene.. ask them about POP Culture Media..
ask them what happened to Carl Craig..

Didn't creator of the first year of the Detroit techno festival GET FIRED by FORD because FORD didn't think he was representing the BRAND enough..

yes, he did..

it's all in the history.. if you don't know you need to do some research, I just remember this stuff coz I was around for it..

a wise man once said "History is DOOMED to repeat it's self." We don't have to let this happen, OPEN YOUR EYES..

Jay those people who you ridicule for being lower class than you, the ones on the Scion mailing list... they have every right to be exposed to music. If you're not willing to spread the music in the direction of people you wouldn't otherwise get along with, you're missing out on an opportunity to enlighten them about what good music is.

That analogy Set posted applies because you are involved with throwing an "underground" party.. making comments about corporate this and that and stating that if people want an alternative to their parties you have your bigger and better party...

You're hating and bigging up your own event. That's not a disputable fact here bud, it's posted by you and also by Sam XL. It's a political assassination. It's like democrats handing out welfare checks in certain cities, or race baiting, or flag burning or whatever you can drum up to get the swing voters to turn out on party day... it's the same shit man. And anyone who follows the news or politics or has studied rhetoric in any form knows what you are doing.

what event?.. I don't throw events.. I might throw an illegal rave party for like 50 people, but I deffo don't throw large scale shows, anymore.. if I have picked shit with someone it only b/c they are personally attacking me..

I care about the scene.. and I watched the rave scene get filled with morons, b/c of over exposure by the corporations..

Do we really need people O.D.ing on drugs b/c they are retarded and shouldn't be there in the first place.. Do we really need violence, and people getting hurt? Do we really ne6ed a auto sponser?

Thats the shit that MADE RAVES illegal in the USA.. and had the DEA, ATF and DRUG TASK FORCE arresting promoters..

if you really want more people at dubstep shows, lower the age barrier, there are TONS, and TONS of kids under 21+ that TRUELY LOVE DUBSTEP, and wish they could get into shows..

lol.. I know more then one producer that can't even get GIG'S coz the 21+ venues won't let them in to play..

I'm sorry that I don't wanna hang out with a bunch of FAKE ass people that only like DUBSTEP, coz it's COOL THIS WEEK.. They tend NOT TO GIVE A FUCK how they act at these shows..

whats next, are you going to try to subdivide the genre in to lil sects?

fuck all this DIVIDE AND CONQUER SHIT, half of the people that are being negative in this thread are all butt hurt because of personal reasons that involve me and kamala..

My blood and sweat have been poured into the underground for over a decade.. Sorry if I think its wrong to sell-out counter culture to pop culture..

and ralph.. why don't you READ THE FUCKING POSTS, instead of blindly typing whatever you can think of to try to discredit me..

the FACT IS most of the people @ a scion show wouldn't go if it was not free.. so there for you exposing people to something they could care less about anyway..

lol, dude really?

race baiting & flag burning?

jaybird is obviously passionate about what hes talking about, and perhaps its getting in the way of having a serious discussion, but dude, democrats & welfare checks?

lol. why not lets talk about whats happening.

look, as many of you pointed out, scion has the right to throw a dubstep event, or whatever type of event they want, and people can participate and that is what it is.... there ARE beneficial aspects, exposing new people to the sounds, artists and promoters get paid, and even venues get paid (not talking clear channel, but here in NYC they have thrown parties at spots where im cool peoples with the owner & im happy he sold so much alcohol)

but yo, when somebody local (not scion) steps up and organizes a dubstep dance, or any type of dance, they take a huge risk, and so when the dance goes off proper, they get their fame as a promoter. which is well deserved, cause they took a huge risk to push something that wasnt a guarenteed success, and most likely put in a good amount of work to make it happen.

if throwing dubstep shows for promoters was about $$ and fame, they would be doing something else. promoters more often than not throw shows because they really do love the music, and it shows in the product.

for scion and the like, there is zero risk. there very well may be somebody in their advertising pr department or whatever who loves dubstep, that i dont doubt (some very smart dubstep lovers even). but THATS NOT why scion throws shows. scion throws shows to promote its brand. the risk is probably less than a 30 second cable network spot, which they probably run thousands of. its ACTUALLY probably a fantastically cheap method of advertising, as compared to traditional advertising, which is why they can keep doing it, more than ever, with most likely very little provable results.

id say that the strategy is to have young people, "hip" urban young people, not run out and buy cars, but associate the brand with fond experiences and being cool. being "in the know" hence the whole house party & rsvp shtick. when these young hip urbanites get a little older they will be buying cars. maybe not even a scion!! but maybe a toyota or a lexus ;)

in 2007 toyota sold over 8 million cars, 130,000 of them scions.

the idea is to get people loyal early, not to have them run out and buy a car the next day, soooo in the immediate all we SEEM have is a party, with a dumb logo on the flyer, probably a bunch of banners, some free crap in a bag.... but basically a decent even awesome party, where we get to hear some very current fresh DJs, the djs get paid, all seems welll......

but always there lurking is INTENT. we can just brush it off and toyota is fine with that because they can afford to let us... but the trap is set...

and id argue that they are being allowed to set their trap in some magical fertile territory... what we do in the dance is get people OPEN, and the power of suggestion while people are open should be (imho) used with the utmost care because the people have entrusted you with them getting OPEN..... and meanwhile, there in the background, toyota is lurking, setting its traps....

i think it is absolutely appropriate to have a discussion within the community as to what this implies, and how people are feeling about it.

and i think that anyone who wants to just drown out opposing views is missing the point of forums, the internet, community and DUBSTEP.

you arent a "hater" if you dont like what scion is doing, and you arent a corporate shill for dealing with them.

and whatever your opinion, discussing it CAN ONLY lead to progress, so kudos to kamala for jumping it off...

so whats up with the all seeing eye on that LA flyer?

I want the time it took me to read this back. No resolution, no common ground made....

Makes California (the motherfucking best state in the US for dubstep) seem like a bunch of bitches. Its not true and I hope the people that count can look over this.. like when Uncle Steve slapped Aunt Janie at the dinner table... everyone just kept eating.. Just keeeep eating... dont look up...

Meanies.
