Pawn and the rest of the cali fam -
I can't speak for other crews but your cousins in the Rotten Apple have got you, all of you guys have built something really special on the west coast, my hat is tipped to you sirs and madames and you are an example to the rest of us in terms of building a scene in the states. You can't please everybody all of the time, sucks but it is what it is.

I DIDN'T EVEN SEE THAT.. That has me more worried, then the corporations stealing our culture.. Could it be that the INTERNATIONAL BANKERS are trying to use an underground sub-culture as a event to spur loyalty for the SYSTEM, CENTRAL BANKS, AND CORPORATOCRACY..human? wrote:so whats up with the all seeing eye on that LA flyer?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corporatocracy yes it's a REAL THING..
"Now you know and knowing is half the battle, go JOE!"
that seems sorta condescending.. i know i'm a good dj and that has nothing to do with anything.

lol... but seriously it is.
so lines are drawn and politics are played and all the while we fail to realize our power and continue on our path of destruction...
not for long though. we WILL evolve. because we ARE united. no matter how individual you pretend to be.
id put out a mix cd for Dr Bronner. ALL ONE OR NONE!!! lol... seriously tho, whats happening musically and culturally and technology wise is leaving these old model exploitative obsolete corporate relics in the dust.... thats WHY they are trying so hard to be a part of it

Pawn, I was not trying to be condescending, I was just trying to pass respect to you.. ne1 that will drop a hardcore track in a dubstep set, and make it work is A-OK in my book..PWN wrote:that seems sorta condescending.. i know i'm a good dj and that has nothing to do with anything.

just don't be sad, this thread is for the good of everything.. despite the haters and people that are willing to stab at someones character on a personal level..
Maybe human?s right, and I'm too passionate about my beliefs, but since when is it a bad thing to speak out, and be passionate about something...
isn't DUBSTEP worth protecting? isnt worth keeping it purely for the people, and not use it as a tool to sell warez..

No, music isn't worth "protecting" if by protecting you are talking about making it exclusive, for only the underground. That's text book elitism right there. Nobody holds the position of saver of step Jay. That's the issue people have here. You said that anyone who doesn't think like you is essentially a corporate dick sucker or something. It's simply not the case. That's the only beef anyone has, is that you trashed something else while bigging up your own side project. You posted pictures of some sewer and said that it was the venue for your next underground event. That your shit would have a better vibe and all that. At the same time someone else in LA was doing the same shit, promoting their show, while downing the other one.
People are correct to think that is pretty cutthroat.

don't go and put words in other peoples mouths.. maybe thats how you think..Surface_Tension wrote:No, music isn't worth "protecting" if by protecting you are talking about making it exclusive, for only the underground. Its a tunnel not a sewer.. and I talked about it once, and not even bigging it up.. for all you know thats tonight.. or tomorrow or next month or when ever I feel like doing it.. I never downed any one promotion crew.. I did however state that I think one of them is putting their ass at risk is doing a good job..
I takes balls to throw an event not at a CLUB no matter where it is.. I respect that.. it's also hard work.. I know, coz I used to do it..
who's to say my party wouldn't have a better vibe, coz I'd promote it word of mouth, so everyone there would be a friend of someone else that heard about it, and all of them would be true DUBSTEP peoples..
I never trashed SOMEONE ELSE'S EFFORT.. I trashed a CORPORATION.. SCION IS NOT A PERSON, NOR DOES IT HAVE FEELINGS, so I doubt it cares..
ralph, I don't know you, and you don't know me, but it seems you have some sort of personal resentment against me, and possibly kamala..
so talk your shit, and try to stab at my character, and try to hurt my feelings.. TBH.. it's doesn't bother me, and I will continue to state my opinions till I have the last word.. SO DEAL WITH IT..
RESPECT TO THE TRUE DUBSTEP MASSIVE!
human I totally agree, but I was taught to talk to people the way they talk to you, because thats the best way to get a message across..human? wrote:not TOO passionate, just dont forget about compassion.
its just people tryin to do they thing, dj, party, make a living whatever.
theres def ways to talk about this where it doesnt have to be reduced to name calling & insult jpegs.
Nothing but love and respect for you bruv.. you sound like an incredibly smart, and chill person to be around.. like I said before one day it would be cool ass hell to chill out with you and smoke a bowl..
don't get it twistd, Ackbar was for Pawn and the other non-socially-challenged dubstep heads.
but really to understand Jaybird's point, you have to look at the American psyche.
here is a good site that will explain Jaybird's p.o.v.

What I can't understand is if scion is such a big evil corporation why can't they bring us high quality sound. The Joker set was phenomenal and i'm sure Zomby's set would have been really great as well. Zomby had a sound issue early in his set and it was never resolved. I could be wrong but I think that the crowd speakers went out so all we were hearing was some subs and the speakers for the dj. When he tried to play dubstep it sounded like shit, when he tried to play drum and bass it sounded like shit, and when he tried to play uk funky it sounded like shit. I really don't blame Zomby for any of this because there are ALWAYS sound issues at these free scion events in la. Another issue was some dudes moshing during Joker (yeah really) but I can ignore a shitty crowd if i'm given top quality music.
As someone who throws monthly dubstep/heavy bass parties that Scion sponsors.. I can tell you they don't really have any input on my events. I hang up a banner, put some advertisements and free cd's (trouble & bass this month) around the club, and that's about it. We get paid for doing this which in turn allows us not to worry as much about how to fund our parties, but focus on throwing quality events and bringing in quality talent (and then of course allowing them to be more free to do their thing, having one more decently paid gig that month).
This is how Scion Sessions events happen; Scion House Parties (most of the LA ones being talked about) are a little different but not that much.
And you know what? I really don't care if this causes someone to buy a Scion instead of a Honda. As a promoter, it doesn't compromise any of my goals. So long as their approach is purposefully subtle and easily ignorable (and that's the only effective way to sponsor events like this proper anyway.. if you've ever been to a big Camel, Bacardi or Red Bull event you'd know what I mean) I'll work with them.
