Jamaican Ska and Rocksteady

Always been a huge fan ever since I was a little thing, proper feel good music, just being going through the old collection and though I would start a thread for it.

Oh hell yeah I'd imagine most folk would HAVE to love Ska and Rocksteady here.

Skatalites and Prince Buster are STILL putting on kick-ass shows to this day. Infact I'm sure Prince Buster will live forever as the man is over 70 and built like a brick shit-house!

I'd say one of my fav bands of all-time is Heptones.

I actually saw Prince Buster not so long ago, andyeah considering he's well into his 70's he still looks and sounds wikkid, puts on a really good show.
I did have a chance to see the skatalites as well not so long ago but my mate (silly bitch) fucked up the tickets so we missed out unfortunately.
Gotta say that Toots and the Maytals also still put on an amazing show, you should really catch them live if you get the chance, and yeah you're right The Heptones are wikkid.
Anyone know anything about Claudette and The Corporation? They put out a couple of tracks on Trojan but I really can't find much of their stuff, shame because 'Queen of the world' and 'Skinhead a bash dem' are both really good tunes.

Yeah I saw Prince Buster recently on the TV and he doesn't look like 70 at all.

Cedric Im Brooks' Mun Gun Du is one of my favourites. I think it's on one of the soul jazz comps.

What kinds of bass guitars were these guys playing anyway? I love the bass sound

Yeah I've got a few of these, they've released some really good compilations actually, good if you're just getting into the sound and want some good budget compilations instead of forking out a shit load for a dusty old 7 inch you've never heard

While I'm not exactly a vinyl snob (I actually engourage the evolution of technology) I do much prefer my Ska/Rocksteady on Vinyl, it just doesn't sound complete without the dusty crackle behind it.
