No, I was just using the NHS as an example of the good things that central government achieves.hackman wrote:then whos job is it? the government decides on education syllabus doesnt it? correct me if im wrong
and yes the nhs is beneficial? did i say it wasnt?
I don't think it's really anyone's job to teach you how to think but your own. I spend most of my spare time (if I'm not listening to or making music) reading books or watching documentaries... most of the realisations I've come to about life wouldn't have made much sense as a schoolchild... you need life experience before you can get to grips with the universal veritas!
As far as I'm concerned, the government is there to make sure the country doesn't fall apart. In order for us all to have access to clean water, reliable food, working roads, public transport, a health service, education, cash when we're unemployed etc etc we need the country to work. The education system's job is to prepare people to be part of that system that keeps the country running. It's not designed to turn people into enlightened philosophers.... but there's nothing stopping you doing that if you want to... plenty of libraries, thousands of reosurces on the internet etc etc.
Maybe people expect too much from state education??
