Do you have any friends that refuse to listen to dubstep?

Post by lowtek » Wed Jul 08, 2009 2:22 pm

It's mainly all my dnb friends. They just refuse to listen to any other type of electronic music. I'm a junglist at heart but there's only so much you can listen to before you want to hear something else. To me, dubstep is a really fresh sound but no matter how much I try to convert my dnb friends, all of them say the same thing: "it's too slow..." I try to explain that it's made to sound half tempo when it really isn't. Oh well, like Steve Harvey said on the Kings of Comedy, "if ya'll ain't feelin this, i dont' really give a damn..."

Yeah i do. In my group of friends pretty much all of us love it but one of them is a music student at college so always looks at music in a technical way and can't enjoy a song because aparently it's "over-compressed" or something like that. A lot of the time i swear he doesn't even have a reason not to like the songs he just makes up some technical music bullshit and says it just to criticize it.

It pissess me off because i don't give a shit if it is over-compressed or not, if it sounds good then i am happy. So yeah he pretty much hate's Dubstep apart from a few songs that he says are alright.

His favourite genre is Jazz....

Edit: He said that the Bassline is this song is over-compressed. I actually wanted to hit him ha - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0rvgSevIqDI

completely understand how annoying it can be, my best mate loves house as much as i love dubstep, and we disagree on songs and that. but at the end of the day, i can always bring out tunes that he will go apeshit for, and he can do the same for me. so dont worry, theres something they will like, i promise you.

one of my mates just loves his RnB, and i still find tunes he cant get enough of.

everyone loves dubstep secretly ;)

I try and push it all the time whenevr I go somewhere where I know they don't be on that tip. Songs like "Cave" or "Changes" goes over smoothly. Basically if it's mad meldoic. Other things them.....well..............

A lot of girls i know aren't into it cos they don't know how to dance to it!

I say to them; just got nuts till your legs break off!

Im glad there are still people who don't like it it tbh.. im a little worried about it getting too big and ruined like hip hop / D&B and the rest...

fight the power!

LOL I had a friend who made a comment like that. "I can't dance to this!". I'm thinking like "if you can't dance to the swagger of this drum pattern you're a lost cause"

I've actually been to house parties where they'd be playing country and/or S-Club 7, and I'll throw on something...something real heavy. And within 2 min they're like "What the fuck is this? NO NO NO!"....put S-Club 7 back on and start their lil weird dance that's off beat and non-rhytmic.

I'm the black sheep of the town I live in right now lol
