Post by juusu » Tue Jul 07, 2009 9:57 am

anyone know where i could cop some from? ... i'd like full samples of rolls / paradiddles / whatever, not just single hits.

i want to try chopping it up and bring it back together in interesing ways :)

I'd love to get some too if you can find any. Though the best thing to do is just go and sample some marching band music.

the samples on that site seem to all be sequenced stuff, i'm looking for proper live drums (well just the snare actually, but I suppose I could chop just the bits I like out from a longer cadence). I'll try to find that drumline flick ... sounds like there will be some useful bits in there :)

cheers for the ideas, guys! :)

In Slipknot's 3rd album there's a song with a section just like that and nothing else playing that would be easy to rip. Possibly a weird suggestion.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=beXnl9PKiJc 2:15 in this, I might do this myself actually.

Even though I'm hesitant to share this (since I have similar ideas...) what you're looking for are called - at least in America - Drum Corps, and what you should search are Drum Corps recordings.

There's a ton out there if you know where to look, although not all are that good since most of 'em are so-so live recordings with tuba farts and drunk hicks cheering in the background.

yeah! thanks - that's exactly the kind of stuff I was looking for... now that you mention this, I seem to remember some old Metallica tunes having similar bits in them - looks like I'll have to brush up on my metal :)

What pops into mind is the "Imperial march" preset from the Nexus expansion "Dance Orchestra"

Although whipping out that much cash for Nexus + 1 Expansion might be a bit too much...

I don't get why people buy nexus anyway...

Overpriced and no way to make own sounds.. No excuse for a software ROMpler other than greed, wanting to make more money out of expansions... And on top of that nearly every nexus preset has been over-rinsed, worse than brutal electro.
