Dubstep is Grime made properly!
i was gonna suggest this as well - when there's so very few raves left for grime djs to play out at, why cut vinyl for that context? the kids into the music are predominantly wanting cds and mp3s.Alex bk-bk wrote:plastiq, do you think this is mainly due to the decline of the rave scene in grime?
pleeeease let's have a bit of a shift in balance back the other way. waiting three months between sidewinders (not to mention travelling to them) and catching plastic or logan at fwd or dirty canvas OCCASIONALLY is just not enough
Can we keep this ontopic - this is about cakes goddammit!!mos dan wrote:i was gonna suggest this as well - when there's so very few raves left for grime djs to play out at, why cut vinyl for that context? the kids into the music are predominantly wanting cds and mp3s.Alex bk-bk wrote:plastiq, do you think this is mainly due to the decline of the rave scene in grime?

This dubstep vs grime debate should be moved to offtopic, I don't see what it's got to do with dubstep at all.
Hmm....

reading through.....this is probably the closest description to grime ur ever gonna get.FullyRecordingz wrote:Grime is not an MC. Grime does not spit about guns. moretime thats what MCs do. People can listen to either side of it.
Grime is as deep and multicomplexed as dubstep, and I believe they should move as a united formation for UK urban music.
grime is grime and it does what it says on the tin
dubstep is also like grime but takes on more elements
whereas grime has that raw extent which u sumtimes wont find in dubstep....but still.....
there are VERY few raves for grime djs to play at.....and sidewinder goin all over the country but not hitting london might be 1 point to address.....
with the likes of FWD>> every friday,DMZ every 2 months and Redstar every thursday compared to>>>>>>>________whatever grime rave is due to be held, u see its alot right now......
dubstep is musical
grime is halfway based for the mcs but if it wernt for the producers making the tunes then where would the mcs be???
nowadays every1 is sittin in front of a pc wanting free downloads, mp3s, cd's etc etc whereas i wanna try my best to put out grime releases on vinyl but in order to start sumwhere its gotta start with cds....and i do see so much dubstep flying out rite now i might have to rob a bank to get em all
thanks for ur time
....and where's me slice of cake

I think thats played a partAlex bk-bk wrote:plastiq, do you think this is mainly due to the decline of the rave scene in grime? Seems like its becoming more of a cotch listening culture than one to bruck out to. Not a development i'm entirely pleased with, i must say
plus all the youngsters coming through want to be an mc or a producer - not many kids are getting into the dj side of it.
I think grime would sell more units if the distribution was in place but a lot of people still stick to doing it themselves. Its now getting a little too late to try and push it out the uk - artists need to shape up and start shipping out (of the uk).
I think its because you can quite easily download software to produce beats good enough to spit on.Plasticman wrote:

But if you want to be a DJ you need quite a bit of money to start it up and maintain it. Im young myself and I would love a little pair of decks and a mixer..and many many vinals but money becomes a issue. Even more so when your a student >_<

i would take dubstep over grime in a club anyday
but on the headphones it has to be grime, the lyrics jeep yr attention in a way a six minute instrumental dubstep track doesnt (ok some do before anyone starts naming great tunes, and of course i listen to mixes) but in general i think grime has a great relistenable quality.
i could listen to wiley all day and i mean that quite literally.
i could not listen to dmz all day tho, and i still love them.

did you know that carrot cake is chocolate cake made badly??Corpsey wrote:Poax, I don't want to start a ruckus or anything, but I found a hair in my chocolate cake.
No big deal, is there any carrot cake kicking around though? Preferably without any hairs in it?

and for your info, you should have paid extra for that hair.
