Human? - I think what you are worried about is when the son in law gets exiled, I mean, exchanged with the rival clan as a matter of "political trust"...but the uncle has plans to have him killed and replaced with a more sympathetic doppleganger - before he even arrives at the exchange point..

Which is far more insidious than throwing a free party..

anonimity.

I think if we're worrying about the downfall of dubstep or whatever because of this shit the REAL concern shouldn't be with the scion parties but rather with the massives.

OHHHH NOOOOOO!!!
DUBSTEP WILL BE HEARD AT ONE OF AMERICAS LARGEST PARTIES!
PLEASE NO!!!
THIS IS MY MUSIC AND NOBODY CAN HAVE IT!!!!

Ive heard about the lineup for that party and so far i am impressed, and the kids get great artists to open them to the sound with great representation.

Lets just hope the room/stage is legit!

while i understand the points being made, we also need to understand that there will always be an underground, just as there is an underground dnb scene, just as there is an underground house scene....

we can all agree that House is the most commercial, corporate sound out there, however, i have been to some AMAZING underground house parties in the last 2 or 3 years alone...

dubstep will have an underground outlet, always...
dnb will have an underground outlet, always...etc.

there is a large amount of the population that requests and wants these underground events, myself included. these events will not stop because scion or anyone else decides to throw a party.

as drumz says, the underground will never die. we have to accept the fact that all in all, dubstep is music, and by us trying to limit who listens to it, or promotes it will only hurt us in the future... I think all people should have the opportunity to listen to dubstep music, whether its in a club by scion, or in a warehouse by purefilth. The scion show will introduce the sound to a lot of newcomers, who will then get a flier for a purefilth or smog or what ever other dubstep show as they exit... at that point, if they had a good time, they will then contribute to the underground.

with out reading the 18 pages of this, i hope my point is made. I'm not defending anyone, nor am i trying to big anyone up. just trying to give a different way to look at it.

im all for keeping this vibe as an underground vibe, but i think it would be selfish for us to keep what we love so much from potential people, friends, that would fall in love with the sound, just as we all did in the past.

feel free to flame me, but thats MY opinion..

It's not dubstep at the massives that I dislike necessarily. I enjoyed being able to see 12th Planet and others up on the stage at EDC and if I make it out to Nocturnal of course I will be happy to see Skream up there. What I don't like so much is the aftershock. I don't like being at a dubstep show and having people on the floor "rolling balls" and shining lights in my eyes or having 5 people come up to me asking if I sell pills. At a rave it is expected but it was not until recently that I saw this behavior at a dubstep event. I'm glad people can break through and become successful and play huge stages. I am not against Scion throwing parties, in fact I have gone to all of them except Trouble and Bass. I am not against the growth of dubstep producers and the acknowledgment of their talent because they work hard at what they do and are worthy of the recognition. I can give so much praise to all of the people breaking through the barriers and getting love from people of other communities. I am just not a fan of the love those people try to give me when they're rolling at a dubstep show and decide it's time for that vicks and a massage.

..you know..I'm still not sure about this issue..

I can tell you that I am having lots of personal issues in returning to college..

The cross section of people who attend Art School has changed greatly..
and unfortunatly, I find myself disgusted and angry alot of the times..
with some of the base and retard stuff these..

I don't know what to call them..because there are many NEW types of them...

HGTV retro pillow norms
faggy fashionista fiber fascists
extreme protofont ID* hipsters
high fructose commercial flyer poptarts
mass tragedy gamers
asian luxury truck-hat-hoppers..

I am really feeling my age..and I can't burn through all this..
tedious flourish..that is consumer culture run way amok..

I wonder if my problem is real, or do I just have too much information..

stack induced paranoia..

yeah..I am an

X generation crayola punk cutbudget woodshop stack induced paranoid
w/compact gardening tendencies
due to architectural fail at socialist urban planning.
and record player. light design. glasses.

ok...this is all I accomplished last week..
I would like it to be a sound system..but it is not..it is this..

Scion nicely bought my return flights to the US last year for my SF/LA/NY shows.. In exchange for a 1 hour mix and interview on Scion radio. So big up them!
