Redline Dubstars present
FIVE BUCK BASS!
Feat. WELL BEING, JAH TRINITY + TRACK TEAM
Saturday 18th July, Crown & Sceptre

In these uncertain economic times, those that thrive are those willing to think outside the square. Accordingly, the Redline Dubstars are inviting well known Adelaide DJs to step up for a mix. First round sees local d&b maestro & 2009 Spin DJ comp winner Well Being dropping in to perform his first full dubstep set, no doubt something of interest to many! Adelaide’s favourite UK-expat Jah Trinity of Earthshaker Soundsystem fame rolls up to mix up a nice warm up of dub & roots reggae, while surely not needing any intro, the latest fans of the sound Track Team finally make their dubstep show debut with promises of bass-heavy mashups never before encountered! Supported by dubsteppers Macro, Desh, Counterpart, Jayar & guest GundaG, the time is now to get your piece of budget-bass stimulation for less than the price of a drink! Along with future local, interstate and international guests, upcoming dubstep DJs are encouraged to bring in their demos and chew the bass fat for a chance to snaffle a set at a future show…
Doors open from 9 and like it says - $5 entry!

Alexander Holland AKA Well Being has been recording his own voice onto tape recorders from the age of 5 and messing around with sound technology ever since.

Getting hooked on the diversity of d&b and making tunes instead of studying, Well Being soon got to a point of getting played by the likes of LTJ Bukem, Aphrodite, Bigbud, London Elektricity, Nookie, Bachelors of Science, Atlantic Connection, Concord Dawn, Contour, Stamina MC, Dr S Gachet, Mutt, Saburuko and many others, airplay on radio stations across Europe, America and Asia and vinyl releases on Zen Recordings (UK) and Red Mist (UK), X-Tinction Agenda (UK) and Fokus (NL), with his first foray into dubstep production immediately gathering label attention. Experimenting with d&b and other styles of music, his work was heard by the producers of 2007 SBS TV program 'Is Your House Killing You?'. Looking for an artist to create a score to compliment the range and messages needed, he was then chosen as sole composer.

Besides an increasingly full DJ roster and being invited to play around the country, taking out the 2009 Spin DJ comp to win a set at the Fringe festival opening party was yet another feather to this boy’s cap. Setting his sights to dabble mixing dubstep with more of his own productions on their way, we’re looking forward to having him play his debut dubstep set, Well Being styled.

Jah Trinity Sound System began in 1980 in the city of Gloucester UK. Milton, his brother Terry and two friends pooled the money between them to buy loudspeaker equipment, the making of what was to become a legendary Roots and Culture Reggae Sound System. Jah Trinity quickly became established in the Roots & Reggae scene and in June 1986 set up their first dance-hall conference with legendary sound system operator, Jah Shaka in Gloucester, both sounds going on to play together in Reading, Birmingham, London and Bristol – Jah Trinity's place as a major player in the UK Roots Sound System circuit secured, playing along side Jah Tubbys, Aba Shanti, Iration Steppas and a host of others.

Although now well established as a Roots Reggae sound system, even among his peers Jah Trinity stood out. The handcrafted loudspeaker boxes produced a raw rumbling bass-line and Trinity's collection of sound effects wailing over the dub versions and mixes of tunes available only to Jah Trinity exciting audiences seeking to hear tunes not heard elsewhere.
Emigrating to Adelaide in 1999 and soon invited to play across Australia and New Zealand, Jah Trinity began building a new sound system, consisting of heavy-duty steel bass boxes including 28 x 1000W 18” subwoofers – the recently unveiled “Earthshaker Soundsystem” – already acquiring legendary status.

Jah Trinity is returning from a trip back to the UK, so expect a pile of dubs of stuff so fresh, its possible you’ll be hearing them before anyone else on the planet.

Track Team have worked hard at developing an approach to DJing that extends beyond the technical skill it takes to overlap a series of songs into a set. Rather than just playing records back to back, both members of Track Team are hard at work behind the decks for the entire set, with a third deck and a mixer with effects/sampling and one member of the team free to build hype with the crowd.
These boys are never limited by genre often associated with DJing in clubs. Working from a hip hop, funk and breaks foundation, their aim is to provide an accessible, eclectic but innovative selection of technically well-mixed tunes, incorporating on-the-fly live remixes, acapellas and self produced 'mash-ups' - in short a sure-fire recipe for a solidly rocking dance floor no matter what the time or place.
Quickly becoming one of the most in-demand local DJ troupes, winning the inaugural Spin DJ comp and their own Saturday night show on Nova 91.9, Track Team have also played alongside the biggest names including Grandmaster Flash, Z-Trip, Mix-Master Mike, De La Soul, Krafty Kuts, The Hilltop Hoods, Stanton Warriors and Kid Kenobi.

Tom has been chomping at the bit for a chance to get in on some of the dubstep action and we were only too happy to provide him the chance…
