This is a great time for independent music, the power has shifted - anything can happen. Big up Oli!

The original would have got more play on the radio although the remix did get played a fair bit on Radio 1 daytime and no doubt kiss as well. Still the video is still played to death on many music tv stations.your mum wrote:you think more people bought it for the remix?Shamwow wrote:The B side MADE THE SINGLE. Congratulations to Skream for being involved in this project, obviously the remix has got huge praise.
BUT
I do think its down to the a side rather then the remix.
If the remix is what sold the release then the following single would have flopped as would the album, which they have not done. Still, this sort of thing should be easy enough to find out with iTunes (although i don't know how to do it - but going purely on the little 'popularity' bar the original doubles the remix ).
Again, like many other people in this thread (although obviously i only speak for myself) i am not hating on Skream, but sometimes peoples rabid adoration of him blinds them.
For real examples of a remix earning all the sales (for better or for worse) look to Fatboy Slim with his Cornershop and Beastie Boys remixes, they were so integral to the release the videos were cut around the remix and promoted with the remix being the media focus and getting top billing track order wise.
