listened to this properly for the first time today, really really really feeling black, versus, and jah war

versus is SO heavy...grinding, dirty, bass stabs and pounding rhythm, but then that vocal and the pads come through and all of a sudden its just so joyous and uplifting, and makes me want to be dancing and smiling on a dancefloor maybe with a nice disco ball. quite distinct from all his album in mood, a really refreshing change though.

speaking of which, i really really hope that hyperdub bring out You Hurt Me on 12 with the original 2step mix

Yeah, Versus is the one on that album, definitely. If this is the one he's givin out as non-album material, the next album's gonna be the don for sure :D
Hmm....

he's got a tough act to follow LP wise, i think it'd actually be a good move for him to pursue this more uplifting tone, to make a clear division between his works. but im saying that mainly cos thats what i want lol.

because if there is one thing missing from dubstep, its that sparkling, soulful, joyous edge which it shed post-garage, which i think is a big shame...

im still really hoping that el-b's return sees him look back beyond ghost to his groove chronicles era and brings that vibe to the scene. time will tell i guess

:z:

If Burial's next album's more on that tip, it'd be the best thing to happen to dubstep in a long while
Hmm....

Is the cover done by the same people who do the
Various Production artwork? Looks kinda similar...
