Aphex Twin

Post by halo skycrash » Sat Jul 18, 2009 6:42 am

Man, why doesn't Aphex Twin grace Dubstep with a tune. Curious what his take is on the whole movement. I know he is into (from what he spins) Tech Itch, Current Value, Panacea. Not a shock. i know he likes some Dubstep. If you are reading this make a song for laughs!

he made a remix of Run The Place Red, by the Bug. Just added crazy breaks everywhere.

I wouldn't mind seeing a Aphex Twin/Boxcutter collab... Boxcutter always reminds me of Aphex Twin.

hasn't done much for me since drukqs tbh, I don't see why he'd shy away from dubstep, he was happy in ambient, it would be interesting to hear a bit of fucking aphex acid dubstep :)

I can't imagine him making an actual dubstep tune tbh - he doesn't really make records to work within genres or for particular DJs, it's more that nicks bits of existing styles and warps them to his own purposes. So he might do something heavy with a halfstep but it'd still be an Aphex tune rather than a dubstep tune.

Would still be interesting to hear, though.

Aphex Twin invented dubstep on a beach in Cornwall circa '91, you had to be there really, but why go back when forwards holds the adventure?

Dunno, tbh.

Dubstep's very much a vibe thing to me, and I can't really imagine Aphex having hit on that sort of vibe, especially as he doesn't tend to do much with edgy / urban / rootsy / clubby type atmospheres, more floaty beautiful or full on gonzoid noise attack.

well hes dropped burial in his sets, so he likes it atleast. i think if he did make some dubstep, it'd be similar to 2562 with the techno vibe thing.
a dubstep edit of pancake lizard would be swell
