Or you could look at it in the way that your subconscious to trying to resolve an underlying problem or issue and only until it does so will the anxiety/depression (in your waking life) lift.d1rt1989 wrote:this is one way you can become depressed - anxiety causes over-dreaming, resulting in tiredness, resulting in anxiety/depression and so on

My brother has started a website where he is going to conduct personal experiments and also blog on the world and its workings.
Inspired by this thread, my brother and myself are going to try and obtain a state of controlled lucid dreaming and are going to chronicle what we do and the results.

There is absolutely no way that cigarette burn thing happened from a lucid dream. Lucid dreams are dreams, they can't affect you in real life except for spacing you out if you do it too much. I have had one precog though... it didn't really help me.
Basically in my dream I met this girl who lived round the corner from me (at my folks house) red/black streaked hair, petite, skater, lesbian and had a long and ridiculously perfect relationship with her (because I kept fast-forwarding to the good bits). I didn't really forget about it, but there was a chick I met a couple of weeks later who lived round the corner. She looked nothing like her (tall, big and blonde) and claimed to be a lesbian/Wiccan, and I tagged it as her, had a thing with her for a while then forgot about it.
Then about 3 years later at I meet the girl at uni, red/black striped hair, same eyes, same size, who lived in the same halls as me and fell in love at first sight. You know one of those "That's the most beautiful girl I've ever seen, but there's no way she's gonna go for me." I actually only met her twice, the first time I got cold sweats just being around her and had to leave. The second time I had just lost my phone and even though she was flirty, I had to leave.
Later on after I'd left uni I found out she was a lesbian, then I remembered my dream and the whole thing clicked instantly. Was a bit weird/frightening to say the least.

Diary thing sounds alright though, but you may need a 'spotter'. Someone to tell you if you're starting to get strung out, etcs... There's definitely a spiritual element to it, but I'm not too sure about the whole precog thing, it may just be that she fitted a mould. Except for the fact that I was smitten with her long before I remembered the dream.
In fact both times I met her, in retrospect it seems like she was fully aware of who I was. I think the 2nd time I met her she said something like "I was wondering when I was going to run into you again...", plus she looked heartbroken when I said I had to leave. So much so, that I almost didn't go back to look for my phone, she had far too much power over me for a girl I'd only fleetingly met... But in my dream I looked like I did back then, and she's changed since then as well. Since then we've turned into 2 different people, and I don't believe you only have one "soulmate". I'm sure I've met at least one other potential soulmate, possibly two.

I lucid dream in a different way.
I just lie still until I start to get like little visualisations. At this point I can create images out of the visualisations, but if I do I'll likely end up concentrating too hard and falling out of it. I just basically try to stay conscious, without moving, but if I let myself get too caught up by the visualizations I'll just fall fast asleep. Then there'll start being auditory stuff that'll usher me into the dream state and again I've gotta try and stay conscious, but not concentrate too hard or move. Then eventually I enter a dream state, where I'm still keenly aware of the touch of the physical world, but if I move I move only in the dream. Then the last thing to go is physical sensation, and I'm there.
Oh yeah before the visualizations start, I start feeling a little dizzy. Not dizzy like naseous, just that feeling where you think you can feel the spin of the earth. And I used to do this thing where I'd let my legs hang half off the bed (below the knees), so they'd go numb. That tended to get me there quicker.

Anyone here seen the movie Olivier, Olivier...is very ineteresting
..a little kid goes missing(rural france) and the family and police spend months trying to find him...then 7 years later, a cop who worked the case comes across this crazy homeless kid in Paris who knows all the information about the family - names, names of grandparents..etc. various stuff..like, that he has a sister and not a brother right..
So the kid is slated to be reunited with the family..and then all the fairy bubble stuff starts to emerge - the sister knows it's not her brother - cat fights...and other various "witchery"..
Great film, I highly suggest it..director did Europa, Europa...what's her name Agnieszka Holland..

...this particular boy actor is in my book for receiving not 1 but 2, of the best on sceen slaps ever!! 1 in this film, and the other in "The Dreamlife of Angels"

I think it was because I was a fundamentalist Christian but every so often Satan wouuld come in and hijack my dream, then I'd forget I was dreaming and basically be forced to fight and flee, and I'd wake up terrified.
It happened up until the last time, after I'd realized Christianity was bull**** vs. science. I simply realized I was dreaming and started manipulating my dream energy, through resonance if I recall, until I was as powerful as him. Then we had a massive great battle, fought to a standstill and he's never bothered me since.

I don't know why, I've just always found it easy to do. I can still do it at will, all I've got to do is lie face down with my forehead on my forearm and eventually I'll fall into a weird trance state where I'm fully aware I'm dreaming and still have full control over it.
I don't really do it any more though because it's a pretty addictive timewaster, and when I did do it people always used to say I looked red-eyed and stoned all the time (before I became a stoner). I also recall my attitude at the time and I've gotta be honest, I really wasn't actually fully conscious of reality. Nothing in real life was important, and it's like I lived my life in a bubble formed immediately around me. If you weren't in direct contact with me at the time I literally didn't give you a second's thought.
I think if you do it too much it gives you so much power that your limitations in the real world piss you off, and you just end up not caring about it.

Look at it as this: you're sleeping and you're dreaming, but all of a sudden, you think: wait a minute this ain't good.thirdrail wrote:aha im struggling to comprehend, its actually like being awake, so your kind of concious of these lucid dreams but your still asleep?
waking life is a sick film too btw
And you wake up. But instead of waking up on earth you wake up in Imagination-Land and you can do whatever the fuck you want.
But you're still sleeping.
Well it is like being awake in a way. You can't control people or stop time or anything, but you can manipulate the world subtly. It still kinda follows the rules of the world. Like if you want you can take a train to China or even another world, but you can't fly there (though I have flown with someone else - universal spirit). If I know about a future event (in my dream) I can will myself there, but I can't just randomly fast-forward through time (or go back). Or what I've done a few times is I can die, then walk around as a ghost so no-one can see me. But I can't just make myself invisible by thinking it.
In my last battle vs. Satan I had to do the dream resonance thing to get as powerful as him, there was no other way. The laws of physics still operate in a very weird way.
Also if I die in a dream I normally wake up, but if I die in a lucid dream I just become a ghost. First time it happened I went to my own funeral and it was harrowing, but now I just kinda wander round messing about with shit because I'm invisible.

Maybe I can explain...
Some of the most obvious experiences I have had with the "lucid" part of the dreaming..
I will be talking to someone in a dream, and I will hear myself say something that I would never say in real life..and in that moment my conscious wakes up and is thinking.. "I would never say that.." and many times in that moment of awareness..I will just wake up...I will lay in bed thinking - who made me say that or who thinks I'm like that..sort of a bad dream, disturbing...
...but on many occasions..I will have that moment of awareness...but, I'll just continue with the dream - more like watching a dream - as opposed to being an unconscious participant who remembers bits of it..
I have these ghost dreams where there is an invisible presence manipulating things, like a poltergeist - I become very aware in those dreams..my conscious detects the implausibility..
but in general, as I get older - I am more conscious in and of my dream state..
..also..the last time I got really fucked up..was WAY TOO AWARE..of what my friend was thinking..it was like one really bad thing on a danger loop..sobriety became my permanent friend at that point..

This whole concept is really exciting to me. Spent all day today getting used to reality checks and spreading the word of lucid dreaming to anyone who will listen, genuinely cannot wait to fall asleep tonight! Cheers for one of the best threads I have ever read wiggle baron!
