I'm trying hard to define my music style but.......... Down right granny raping filth just isn't enough!!!

I usually only play .wavs, and buy them or rip them. I am probably guilty of having done it accidentally once or twice. I don't even import stuff into ableton unless its a WAV or the occasional 320. VBR's can be testy to warp especially if it's from a torrent or something and usually that stops me when my morals don't.
i try not to download anything illegal at all, except vinyl rips when there is no digi release
but i dont play vinyl rips out only on radio.

I would lol too if that where the case but these days the rips are very high quality. Usually the highest quality VBR. Some would even argue that the vinyl rips sound better than the 320's from Beatport or where ever. Could be because the vinyl mastering is better or the introduction of analog.djrobyn wrote:at everyone who plays shitty vinyl rips in 160 kb/s quality...
Is not that I don't appreciate the effort gone into it, but if I buy an mp3 I won't play it, I'll forget about it.DJ Whistla wrote:why is that?lightness wrote:but i'm not paying for mp3s
i dont get this train of thought as if its a quality product ie. has been mastered and promoted well then why not give the artist a quid for his/her labours?
I mean sheesh you can get 320's now for 69p!
I won't forget about that deep medi plate thats on my bedroom floor will i?

If it was available as a legal download, I wouldn't pirate it. (This only applies to dubstep. I'll pirate popular music without blinking an eye.)
Statement of Intent VIP / Sahaquiel v4 single out now on UK Trends.

for a minute there i was downloading a lot of stuff through the improper channels and I would definitely buy the things that I enjoyed the most, but since about 2006 i haven't downloaded anything illegally. wouldn't dare play out any of that stuff either. and to be fair it was mostly stuff that wasn't in press or in mp3 (early big apple/tempa stuff) so it wasn't like anyone was really losing out.
*besides dmz/deep medi/disfigured dubz
well pretty much every thing* is released digitally now so im not sure what your point is. if you can't find it that's ur fault...collige wrote:If it was available as a legal download, I wouldn't pirate it. (This only applies to dubstep. I'll pirate popular music without blinking an eye.)

not meanin to sound like a dick but come on you know why people do it. It's very simple, some peps don't have the money to buy every release on vinyl. Some peps can't afford to buy vinyl full stop. Then there is the peps that don't mix and just want to listen to the dubstep/grime/hip hop or what ever they download. Then there is peps that are just too tight to buy music, be it vinyl cd or mp3. Personaly i buy all vinyl the odd cd & mp3 and yes i have downloaded tunes that i shouldn't have. But if i do download illegal tunes and i really like them and the are avalible on vinyl then i will buy the vinyl. in for the kill is a prime example.Dub Frequency Records wrote:Ive Recently Come Across Torrents With Our Stuff On!

When did this start anyway? It is totally fucking backwards. DJ's are promoting the tracks and should get the tunes for free but since your basic fan can't give a few dollars towards their favorite tunes we have this fucked up system where labels rely on dj's for any profit that they might get. I really only dj dubstep so I guess every other genre of music is fair play for me to take? What if I never except payment for my dj services, it's ok to thief any tune I can find? WTF?Dubstepper wrote:Then there is the peps that don't mix and just want to listen
If you want to listen and not pay, there are enough mixes out there to listen 24/7 till the end of days without spending a dollar. Want to listen to something in particular? There are clips everywhere. You want listen to a high quality copy wherever you want? BUY THE FUCKING THING IT IS 2 DOLLARS FFS!
