'Jump-up'/wobblefests vs atmospheric dubstep

Post by .onelove. » Mon Jul 27, 2009 1:10 pm

Alright so lets have it, I notice a larger percentage of posts tend to now be snobbish remarks about certain DJs or tunes being 'wobblefests' that are aimed at idiots. Just wanted to see how the majority of the forum stand on this.

To me, personally, I actually prefer it. Nothing makes it go off more then big fat heafty bass hitting you hard, and tbh when you're out thats what you want surely? Although I will say I do sometimes just think, hold on, thats just ridiculous, and if you're just sat at home then it will get repititive.

Totally love the atmospheric stuff because its alot deeper, you can get into the music alot more and try to find a meaning... Wobble just doesn't do that for me. Although, I drop some wobble when I've been building up with progressive beats so it smacks ya in the face :) .

All about using the right tune at the right time for me really...

i like "wobblefest" (whoever came up with that) when im out and i want it to really go off in a club, but when im chilling at home after a few bevvy's or zoots and i just wanna wind down with some mellow tranquil tunes that's when i love that atmospheric kinda stuff. Its whatever floats your boat really and if forum members try to ween people towards one or the other it will completly be a "because its kool" dillema, just listen to WHAT YOU LIKE.

It all depends on what mood you're in.
Best is an evening where you have both.

bit of a pointless thread as it's not as black and white as this.. i don't just love one and dislike the other..

I prefer heavy, but interesting at the same time, not just a shit beat with some drill sounding thing caving my ears in.

I chose option 2, but there should be an option 3 (both).

on a friday night, right when I start drinking I like a few wobblers...though I start flipping between both within half and hour. I've never been to a dubtep event....but I can't imagine hearing a wobble festivus for 20 songs in a row...that's just ignorant as far as I'm concerned.

likewise I couldnt imagine 2 hours of straight electrohouse or club-hop. switch it up

IT'S ABOUT VARIETY

If any style squeezes any other off the dancefloor then you guys will literally have taken the final step into turning Dubstep into something that was as shit as DnB was for much of the past 10 years.

Tread carefully

Dubstep, at its core IS 'atmospheric', so I find the notion of 'wobble versus amtospheric' kinda misleading, as if jump-up is one half of the equation. It's a distinct little style and a distinct little formula, but stylistically it's a bleep on the radar that is dubstep.

Obviously, people want to hear this distinct style most of all and I wouldn't wanna ruin it for them, but I don't wanna hear it too much either.

And the atmospheric stuff is way more fun to dance to.

Maybe I should have made it more clear, i never said which is the one you liked, I said which you prefer. I agree, a mix of both is ideal for a set, makes you appreciate heavy drops all the more. I do enjoy the more chill, but the excitement of big heavy wobbles is another level.
