Who was that guy...(GLADE 09)

Post by karmacazee » Wed Jul 29, 2009 1:49 pm

...who played instead of Jazzsteppa at Glade this year?

Was well gutted they didn't make it, but this dude came on playing all this wicked dancehall and dub and rootsey stuff. I've sen him before at a breakcore night in Cardiff.

Long, long black dreads.

You're thinking of Ironside, he's a bristol legend!

seen him play about 30 billion times all over the country, fair play to him for getting a slot at glade this year.

also jazzsteppa did play, just later on in the day.. they were quite disapointing actually..

Its not that surprising, Punksi is the main Overkill promoter hence Ironside, Alkemy, Noisy Boy, Punksi, Dub Boy/Ruffnek night, JE:5/Ugly Funk night all played, plus the Dissident Soundsystem was used in Overkill (& DMT rig was in Arcadia) since Punksi is from Bristolian

I missed his dancehall set though but caught his Raggatek one on Friday in Overkill. Was rather heavy as standard 8)
I:gor - Mi Food
Krumble - Time To Burn
I've never seen Ironside when he hasnt played these tunes

Sweet, seems as though it wouldn't be that hard to see him again somewhere then. :)

I have another one now, but this one may be more challenging.

He was DJ'ing the Arcadia Fiery stage of doom on Saturday night/Sunday morning. He played a remix of Song 2, and another remix of some Beastie Boys. It was leaning a bit towards the stilton, but it was balanced nicely and really was a quality set.

As you can imagine, I was caned at the time, plus for some reason, there seems to be no listings for that stage on the Glade website...
