Faulty 1210's ??

I bought a second hand 1210mk2 last weekend and when I got home thought the 33/45 buttons seemed a bit unresponsive. i put it down to the fact that its been a few years since I've played around with one and that they were always like that.
I saw a mint condition 1200mk2 in a pawn shop near me today and couldn't resist banging that on the credit card as I'm keen to get back into dj'ing. When I turned it on I noticed that the 33/45 buttons were different - they have a definite 'click' to them,unlike the 1210 which doesnt move when you press it and needs a harder press.
So I rang up the place where I got the 1210 from and the guy starts going on about how the 1200 was a different design to the 1210 and the buttons are supposed to be like that.
So what I wanna know is,do all Technics decks have clicky 33/45 buttons?

The only difference between 1200's and 1210's is the color.

learn to solder precisely, and you'll be able to fix/replace just about anything on your decks.. beats the hell out of paying a shop to do it, that's for sure

i don't know how many cables i've replaced over the years, done at least 4-5 tonearm assemblies and a ton of tonearms. Changed numerous lights and buttons too. Patience and a steady hand or the best tools you can have when working on em (and a small tipped soldering iron of course)

Thanks guys,if I keep it I will get the old solering iron out;) I'm tempted to take it back on the basis that it is faulty as there is a 1210 mk 5 for sale at £210 in the pawn shop where I bought my 1200 from.
I know some people don't like the mk5 but surely I'm better with a newish mk5 than a mk2 thats got a bit of mileage?

Sounds like your deck has been used quite a bit and could prob do with a service.

btw, the 1200 and the 1210 are both exactly the same apart from the colour on the top!
