DJ Hax : Infectious agency / Freakeasy
at the age of eight, hax found it a fun game to run a pair of reel-to-reel tape decks through a mixer at the same time, slowing one reel by hand to sync the music from both. it is believed that during these moments, the modern beatmatching dj was concieved. Years pass, thousands of mixtapes are made, Chris Carter helps build the Industrial, Breakdancers find their beat and Massive Attack invents Dubstep. Broken robots are used to create Electro.
After putting in his time spinning fetish clubs and sexy parties, hax is inspired by a deceptively cute-and-cuddly DJ by the name of Ixnée at the birthday party of Carla Starla; she clandestinely rearranges his consciousness and his brain matter with her Electro-Freak-Tech; hax begins to spin Breaks, and :infectious agency: was born.
Since then, he has spun Resonate, Freakeasy, BM Regionals Interfuse and Lakes of Fire, clubs, raves, parties and many gatherings of people at every opportunity given.
Ixnée : Infectious Agency / Freakeasy
Half-pixie and half-jaguar, ixnée has mastered the art of discombobulating conciousness through various means, from the deceptively soothing sounds of psychedelic breaks, to the face-melting madness of her 'electro freak tech.' Her beguiling methods of using cruel beats to seduce you to the dancefloor will forever warp your delicate sensibilities into a near-pathological need for wobbly basslines and throbbing kicks.
Ixnée has been spotted twisting the souls of hapless partiers from Burning Man to Interfuse and Lakes of Fire to Resonate, Freakeasy, and prowling various other dark recesses of the urban jungle.
Mertz : 217 Mafia Champaign, IL
For Mertz, it has always been simple: Find amazing music and share it with others.
Whether it has been hosting radio shows, covering electronic music in magazines, promoting, or DJing, Mertz has found ways over the last ten years to share the music he loves. In the last six years, Mertz has made his mark as a DJ in central Illinois by spreading the songs he digs up to appreciative crowds. Mertz has held down five different residencies in Champaign, including his weekend residency at Boltini Lounge that has been going every weekend since the Fall of 2005. His ear for great tunes has put him in front of crowds across the Midwest. He’s played alongside big names such as Colette, Justin Long, Pete Moss, Bryan Jones, Chris Grant and The Sound Republic. In addition to writing about the local scene in magazines, newspapers and blogs, Mertz co-founded The 217 Mafia, a collective of local DJs and artists that support underground music. He’s hosted several radio shows in Champaign including Radioactivity and Chilled Beats. Starting in early 2009, Mertz and five other local DJs started a monthly dubstep party in Champaign that sees over 200 people turning out to hear the bass heavy sounds.
