The software is only as good as the person using it

Its all about what you feel comfortable using. If you make banging tunes that you're happy with using FL8, Then go ahead and carry on using it. I used to work soley on FL, But i've recently started using logic aswell, They work together nicely for me.

Well, it's up to you.
But FL8 def. isn't a bad choice.
"Better" software won't necessarily make you better at producing.
If you install FL, strip all of the standard FX, instruments and Samples,
And install your own samples and VST's you've got yourself a very, very good DAW.

yeh, ive got like 30 different bass plugins, like Massive and Albino (dno how to use albino ¬_¬)

and i downloaded 5600 drum sounds and couple of hundred drums loops to slice but when i listen back to the music i make, it feels like it sounds like i made it with Fl. if that made sense

i must be missing something. it doesnt sound like everyone elses :'( why?

this isn't going to be particularly helpful but it sounds like you've done a badly eq'd, 10bpm too slow remix of the worst pop song of the last 5 years.

That's because it is mixed HORRIBLY. (And is 120BPM)
When the kick... kicks in you can hear it is pushing everything else down.
This means it is way too loud.
And there is way, way, WAY too much reverb on everything.
Don't worry tho, we've all been there.
Not to praise myself or anything but listen to this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CbWYCa0TErQ
Not saying I'm all that good at mixing but you'll notice almost everything just blends in with each other.
This is done by adjusting levels in the mixer,
Compressing, EQ'ing, widening, Exciting etc.
I mean,
Look at all of the FX, VST's etc I have open at that particular track:
Image
(And still, a lot of plug's are covered behind the song window...)

Just get yourself some quality VST effects and learn to work with them.

Alot of big producers use FL Studio. Your beats don't sound bad becuase of FL, you just need to get better at using the software.

I think you're approaching the whole thing wrong:

"ive got like 30 different bass plugins, like Massive and Albino (dno how to use albino ¬_¬)

and i downloaded 5600 drum sounds and couple of hundred drums loops to slice"

It doesn't matter how many plugins you have or how many drum samples you've got, LEARN TO USE YOUR EQUIPTMENT. You even stated it yourself that you don't know how to use Albino.

Producing isn't some magic thing that happens just becuase you decide you want to do it, you have to work at it.
Out Now:
DD005 - Retrospect
MRS029 - Connected/Lovin' You
DAR010 - Santogold - Shove It (remix) 12"
SET003 - Bob Marley - Is This Love (remix) 12"
Echodub Loves Volume 2 - White Room
FTW Records Digital - Panic Room
FTW Free Compilation - Get Up (a.k.a Symphony)

Nah man, It's more than capable of professional quality. Just learn it inside and out. Stop downloading tons of plugins, pick one and learn it. If you wanted to you could make loads of tunes with just 1 VST synth and 1 drum kit, or using nothing but the FL plugins, and they could all sound pro & a lot different from eachother if you put the work into it. Don't expect a plugin or program to make music for you. Look at what some of the really amazing electronic producers from the 80's and 90's used to make such incredible tunes, the software they used didn't have 1/10th the power of something like FL.

I use FL6 with only 1 drumpack and 3 VSTi's... but then again my music isnt that interesting, FL does what I want it to do so I'm happy...

for reference, www.virb.com/sinussawtooth 1st track in the player.
