NOTTS HEADS

Post by did » Tue Aug 04, 2009 11:53 am

I'm looking for a decent night, as every one i have been to recently ended up with me leaving due to not being able to relax, whether it was the tunes or the people there. Obviously this does't include nights such as wigflex, but I was wondering if there were any nights about that resembled a DMZ or FWD night or something on those lines. Something where the deep pounding bassline is all that matters.

And if there isn't, someone please start one!

it is good for dubstep don't get me wrong, but few nights still have that intimate atmosphere where you just feel connected to everyone through love of the same thing. too much beef and scenesters these days

Why don't you go down london with 3 or 4 people in a car, split the petrol money, This is what i do. Obv the driver can't drink but it just means that the driver doesn't have to spend £4 for each beverage.

I think Misst was the only one that caught the underground element for me.
They made a very smart move with the whole Exodus collab.
Would be nice if they spruced the venue up a bit more.. I know it's a ballroom and shit, but there's literally no where to cotch, bar from the floor.
But that doesn't really affect me.. I'm just going on what other people always seem to moan about.

Always had the best line-ups and the best atmosphere (bar from when that prick got the shit kicked out of him by the shady bouncers coz he let off a fire extinguisher 10 mins from the end and got everyone kicked out, and when the girl got dashed down the stairs for smoking inside) lol.

Can't wait for it to return in Oct/Nov.. I expect big things 8)

Rubberdub was pretty big when it was first set up.. they pulled in some big names on tight funds, so much respect to them.
But the venue / people who attended slowly ruined it for me, as it just seemed to turn into a place for people to come and get wasted on drugs..
people started getting robbed, shit always seemed tense, there was too many waste heads in there just looking to cause trouble. I even heard someone nearly got raped in there ffs.

Detonate is my second fave.. just coz you can pretty much guarantee they'll have someone on the line-up to suit you.. always a big name, always a big night, atmosphere can be a little bit aggy when the more known dj's get on.. bare pushing and shoving, and just too much hype at times.. I remember when Geiom played, and there was some twatty pill head booing him and shouting "get off, ya shit, bring the real dubs" coz Rusko (I believe) was due to play next but was late setting up or whatever. I felt like fucking his throat with my fist. No respect. tut.

Wigflex is just live.. never any nob heads there coz "dat shit aint dubstepz, wheres maa wob wom wom ting, wheres the caspers and rustgos" line-up's never fail. etc.

I'm not one of those "stay away from 'my' music, you can't like it coz your a twat" sorta guys... I just really can't stand some of the characters this genre can attract, who just bring there shitty attitudes and personalities to a night out and just fuck it up for the people who are generally there for the music.

this^^^
detonate can be sick when there isn't a big jump up name on. seeing mala there was pretty ultimate.
my real issue with detonate is the extortionate pricing. same a bit with the later rubberdubs, especially at blueprint. not paying £10er to get into that place. i love the venue but it is a bit of a shithole.

completely forgot about basslaced at the bodega. great night, great venue, great vibe and still feels pretty intimate. never had a bad basslaced myself.

Notts is stuck inbetween London and a place like Leeds...both geographically and in music terms

PS disctint lack of respect for Futureproof in here.

they brought you Martyn, Bass Clef, Joker, Peverelist, Appleblim, Darkstar, Brackles and tonnes more.. way before anyone in the midlands even clocked their existence.

they also had a second room which played Techno etc way before the Tech/Dubstep thing went global

Loft Party is run by me and a buncha long time Notts heads, we ran the first one called "In Fine Style" but the name is getting phased out so to speak.

We deal with strictly underground bass heavy beats, moving on from the stagnant aggro dubstep scene around here
