if i made a preset in reaktor (hypothetically), and then gave it out to 1000 producers on beatport for example; how many of those 1000 would end up using it in their tunes?

if i was a baker, and someone gave me the recipe for the most popular muffins about; would it make sense that i'd run back home to the shop and turn out these muffins all day, in the hope that i'd make a name for myself? wouldn't i want to try and make unique muffins to make my shop stand out?

i just want to understand the concensus here, in regards to originality in creativity. no one likes imitation, if its just done to jump on trends.

it all depends really tho in regards to harsh synth bass

like sometime it works and some times it fails miserably

depends on the rest of the recipe

i'm not citing beatport to cite beatport. i'm just using that site as its one of the biggest stores out there.

it sounds like a chainsaw being pitched up or pitched down, depending on the tune in question. you know it when you hear it, and its on any of the big internet radio channels every day. i buy vinyl every week, and i definitely don't hear it that much in the vinyl coming out right now, so that's a very good point jolly.

This is the only thing that really peeves me in a set - when you get one after another of these - I'll admit the first couple of times I heard this stuff I was feeling the energy and how fucked and leftfield this stuff is but very quickly its turned into monotonous dredge. Give me wobbles over this any day!

Yea I'm not really sure what you mean, I've only heard one track with a chainsaw in it. Audio example maybe? Btw I buy vinyl and I used to buy online and there is DEFINATELY more varied and better stuff (less shit to sift through) with vinyl.

we don't even need to name tunes or the people behind certain tunes. that's really irrelevant. the point i'm trying to make is this depressing trend of the same palette of sounds being used by X amount of producers. why would anyone want to turn out tunes that sound just like the next man down the road?
