Hi guys some advice on card would be appreciated as i'm in the market now

From a production at home standpoint,
with no external hardware apart from a mixer/amp, is there any difference between what is refered to on the M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 + 192 as Zero Latancy monitoring - and Hardware Monitoring that you see on these USB Jobbies?

AND

Whats with "Low Latency" Asio monitoring, is the delay noticable or are we talking < 20ms ?

I have a Cakewalk SPS-25 something or other stashed in the wardrobe that i've never used.
I am using a Soundblaster 24bit (terrible, I know!).
I will be coming back to this thread when i've a bit more money!

I have a Motu ultra lite mk3, real nice but a bit shy of low frequency's when recording vocals.

I got a MOTU ultra lite mkIII
It's powerful and got very light software. It doesn't suck my cpu space.
Just have a q
Sometimes it makes a strange noise that mute my output signal for a bit.
Someone told me something about problems with the fire-wire's chipset built in the notebook
I use the MOTU with AC power, but I'm using a fuckin' HP notebook, very far from a real DAW. It's fast enough but if it's the prob, it does not surprise me.
Anyone got answ??
Thanks anyway, and sorry if I'm killing english but

So i wanted to get a good sound card, and i am willing to put out $250 for it, maybe a bit more.
Its for a home studio, all i need it for is for, recording acoustic & electric guitars, also bass and aswell as vocal recordings. I would also like to be able to plug my cdjs into it.
any good suggestions? thanks :)

i'm looking for an external usb audio interface that would be good for djing (using traktor on my pc), allow me to easily record audio from my pc onto my tape deck (and vice versa), and record audio from my turntable/keyboards onto my pc. I can do all this stuff right now, but it's a pain hooking and unhooking all those wires constantly, i want something that allows me to use my hardware in my daw seamlessly, as well as bounce audio back and forth between my pc and external hardware easily. something decent, not too expensive and with lots of inputs/outputs i suppose.

i've been looking at the m-audio fast track pro. does anyone have any experience with it or know of another audio interface that is better value?

I have the fasttrack pro usb and have been using it for a couple of years. It does the job, although there are driver issues sometimes which can be annoying. Its great if you want to use it for multiple outs so you can use traktor for DJing and still be able to monitor properly.

If you only use headphones when producing music does it make a difference what sound card you use? I know a dumb question but this really has me confused.

No idea about vista but I know quite a few things have gone wrong with mates' ones of those. I know they can crash/cut out if you get that weird electric jolt thing in your house.
