what a silly thread...
the best "tune" (would never call it dubstep in the half step sense) is Mickey Pearce - Inammi
More contemporary answers would be the Convex Curved Mirror / Hometown Swamp release by Kontext on Immerse Records, No More Tears / Eyl Booty by Geiom
but again, ITS TOO EARLY TO DECIDE

I personally wouldnt call these tunes dubstep, especially the new Untold one, and definately not No Charisma, how is that dubstep?, nor is the james blake 12" lolspooKs wrote:Ben mate you're so on point it's scarydiversify wrote:brackles - LHC

Too many to choose, but from what I'm constantly playing atm:
Emalkay - When I look at you (Can't wait for the release!)
Joker & Ginz - Purple City
Bar 9 - Dancing with the Devil (Can't stop playing this atm)
Coki - Goblin
Crissy Criss - Kick Snare
This will undoubtedly change.

dunno picking about a tune of the year, but 2009 has been mostly about the newcomers and newer names:
Untold
Joker
Gemmy
Joy Orbison
Brackles
Shortstuff
Hyetal
Peverelist
Jack Sparrow
Pangaea
granted some of them have been about for a year or two, but these producers are coming into their own in 2009. So much great music about.

firstly i mis-read the topic title thought it was 'tune of the year'..deamonds wrote:I personally wouldnt call these tunes dubstep, especially the new Untold one, and definately not No Charisma, how is that dubstep?, nor is the james blake 12" lolspooKs wrote:Ben mate you're so on point it's scarydiversify wrote:brackles - LHC

also the term dubstep i seem to be using more and more loosely to describe bass orientated music at around 140..
im not one for pigeon holing and i think its a bit pedantic to say that the new untold ep and the jame blake 12 dont fit albeit loosely under the umbrella of dubstep.
admitedly no charisma is house but then imo the martyn bit is deep house if anything..
i think the human need to split up music into easily digestable sub genres is long and i merely wanted to express my appreciation for the incredible amount of forward thinking music thats already come out this year (although this thread is blatantly jumping the gun).. out to the second half of the year.. your time
@ gwyn.. yes mate need to link aint seen ya in time.. where u livin.. back in fishgaurd? was guna go to brizzle on the razz sometime this month if u fancy it
Lots of good choices up there, but I'm going with the new Kryptic Minds, six degreeeees.
