no offense to "da gawd".. but it took a while for him to develop his own sound as a producer. good or not, most everything pre-07 is pretty dilla/madlib derivative imo

True enough. I listen to 1983 and think, it's blatantly obvious the influences. But he will assure you his main influences don't include Dilla though. He got pretty irked about the comparison in one interview...kinda funny.
He drops Dilla tunes during his sets though.

The beat tapes, re: raw cartoons etc, are def nice.... I LOVED the 1X3 EP but didn't even pick up the 2nd one after peeping the traxx online... bit disappointed about all the remix action on the next one, but Take and Dimlite are both class....

the ambient shit is wack, the only good tracks are dimlite's and take's and as we've already mentioned, dimlite's has already been released. so 3x3 is pretty bad compared to 1x3 (the best) and 2x3.

its been dragged out for too long and after the excellent 1x3 it went downhill fastttt.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4GsGlp0-Iw&fmt=18 <- i guess he just twittered or something that the song playing here is from his next lp. you can also see he commented on it a few days ago. i think it sounds seriously amazing for as short as it is, i'm not worried about the boring ambient tracks on 3x3 now

you not gonna believe this story bout that tune. been wondering about it since he played hit live in may in amsterdam. was enchanted by it. later, I heard it on the plastic people set as well, but still no luck in finding out what it was. I sent flylo an email 2 days ago asking about it, got a response that he wasn't sure what it was but that it hopefully would be on the album. and 1 day after that, he twitters the bloody track. there is no coincidence. this is divine intervention..
