i dont think you get how far out the idea was
i mean as if you were singing naturally, not with any other machine making the noise, just your throat, but having a keyboard control your actual voice, as in your voice box itself being the synth like beat boxing

not autotune either

if they did this it would probably be a violation of human rights to test it

Ok tbh the 'now' sound that is really working on dancefloors seems to be a combination of out riddims, LOTS of drums, somethin moving in the low end that isn't necessarily a proper bassline (toms in grevious angel's "loser" are a great example), and melody with some manner of warping or evolving sound.

Starkey, l.d, grevious, untold, joker, raffertie and ramadanman are the 1st names that come to mind in terms of currently wha'gwaan.

Yeah I was gonna say talkbox too but then I understood what you meant. Like not replacing the vocal chords, but controlling them. That'd be like, a pre-emptive autotune.

Well, perhaps you could achieve something similar with a talkbox if as a source sound you used whatever sound your vocal chords produce. Which makes me think, what sound do vocal chords produce? Like, what would you send down that tube to replace your vocal chords and make the same sound? A 'aaaaah'? A 'uuuuuuuuh'? A 'eeeeeeeh'? Something else? I always wondered..
