DJ'd my first party last night...
...and I absolutely loved every second of it. Now, I wanna get a good DJing program for my Mac, which is the best? Later on I wanna use CDs instead of my laptop, but for now it'll have to do.

thanks for the suggestions ya'll! I gave Traktor a look and I think I'm gonna go for it. I really like NI's programs, I use Absynth and Guitar Rig all the time, they're interfaces are the best. I'm gonna get Traktor Pro, not Traktor Scratch, I'm saving up money to move soon so I gotta reserve the funds.

Good for you mate, I played my first gig last week, felt nervous as fuck before but once you get into it, it feels amazing.
Next up for you is learning to beatmatch no?
I would love to DJ using records, but right now, I just want to start playing out and buying a program makes that much simpler. I don't really have enough money right now to start buying hundreds of records, and people aren't going to care whether you're using vinyl or doing it digital, they care about the party, right? no one's not gonna dance because you're using a program.Lowpass wrote:haha it's a crazy idea but some people prefer it that way.benh wrote:lol buying softwareDignan wrote:thanks for the suggestions ya'll! ... ive dj'd using vinyl for years and to be honest ..... its got to the point now where ..... im seriously fed up with it
its heavy ..... its too large and not portable enough ..... it scratches tooo easy .... people say .... u cant beat that analogue sound .... that analogue sound suck hiiiissss hissss crackle crackle
the invention of the mp3 has opened the world of music up to more people than you could ever imagine ..... theyre compact, good quality and you dont have to be loaded to burn a cd .... yet getting a disc pressed / dub cut is another matter very expensive and time consuming
when i dj now i just take my laptop .... all the latest tunes i've got and a copy of virtual dj
the tunes dont skip / get knocked ... if you press stop on the wrong deck it asks you if you want to stop the tune thats playing etc etc playlists blahblah blah and most played db is priceless
and yes it has a sync button but i love this too bc i can mix maybe 50/60 tunes in an hour rather than having to beat match each one i can concentrate on the mix + it has effects
now if you wanted to dj in the 1990's a setup with technics and a decent mixer would have set you back £1000-£1500 now i can buy a shitty pc/laptop and mix until the cows come home
lol
... essay over i love mp3s

music for the poor .... power to the people and all that
.... i hate it though bc my hardware is now 'worthless'
