Just made my life a LOT easier

This is seriously cool. Best £2 I've spent for a long time.

Now, when I'm recording myself playing the guitar I don't have to get up, run to the computer, press record, then run back to the mics and start playing. I can just plonk my ipod next to myself and hit record when I'm nowhere near the computer!

Wooo! Also, having extra MIDI control is always good.

Plus I also bought Zebra2, which is :o :o :o - my ideal synth methinks!

That's pretty usefull for recording! :)

If I had an iPhone, I'd probably get it just to give it to my mc while he's recording, so he can stop/play/record faster.

Not that it's an alwful lot of work to press F9/SPACE/SPACE. :D

Works just like any other MIDI controller.

You just install the automap software on yer comp, select the automap virtual MIDI drivers as your MIDI controller in the preferences, and set up as usual using the MIDI learn function in Ableton!

Launching clips and scenes from my armchair across the room is definitely :o 8)

Wifi I think, although apparently you can set up an independent network with your comp and your iphone If you don't have router/network - i.e. live gigs.

And on the subject of Zebra 2, I never realised how much you could do with just ONE oscillator... I mean, U-he owe me dental bills from how hard my chin hit the floor...

yea i think ummm hochi from tekdubz label dnb wise is responsible for programming part of that
that synth is insane and underrated and underused
i use that and z3ta+ and surge as my 3 main workhorses, least till i program a reaktor one that will cover everything i do

^^^^ Heh, funnily enough, Z3ta + is my workhorse synth of choice too. I think that's why I like Zebra so much.

Geeky modular, wave-type drawing goodness!

get a wacom tablet for drawing automations for zebra

is it just transport panel?

You can control plugins (which have premapped controls, but I prefer making my own), and any parameter that is MIDI assignable.

The interface on the ipod is just two sliders and eight buttons( the buttons can be set to on/off, toggle, momentary, and another setting I forget about...), but you get a shitload of them that you can flick between. Also, you can save any setups you've made easily into different categories, like mixer, FX, instruments etc.

If they were to do an update, it definitely needs a customisable interface, like being able to have a screen just full of sliders, or a screen full of buttons or whatever.

But it's well worth £2, which is what, like $2 these days?

Oh, and getting a tablet sounds like a damn good idea!
