Dubstep DJ's: What Mixers Are You Using?

Post by Preacha » Sun Aug 16, 2009 5:06 am

i'm currently using the rane TTM 57SL because up until about 2 years ago i was mainly playing hip hop using serato scratch live
now im back to playing off wax and playing mostly dubstep and its time to upgrade

just wondering what all the djs out there are using before i make a purchase

If you have the money to dish out, I've heard Allen & Heath is the only way to go. Personally, I've been using a Vestax05pro since 1997, because I'm broke as all hell. When I do upgrade, I'm probably going with a Pioneer, because with a little searching, you can find used DJM500's for fairly cheap.

I have a Vestax pmc07 that I have had since like '03 I have no reason to get anything new because it still works great. I always meet people that say the same thing about the Vestax mixers. I really don't need all the bells and whistles for what I do although I would like a filter like those A&H ones have.

I use a Pioneer DJM-400 as i'm mainly a bedroom DJ and it's fine, really good effects, very good quality and i got it for £280 off Ebay, BARGAIN. But when i have the money, i'm definatley going to be leaning towards any Allen & Heath mixer, they're just the don of mixers.

pioneers are over rated too much cost for fx and sound is weak on em compared to cheaper vestax or ecler

compare to a rane vestax or ecler sound wise man
the sound quality on pioneers is poor for the cost
like 16 bit vs 24 bit
then again i produce and work in a gear shop so what do i know

Fair enough dude, but i'm not complaining, for £280 this is more than i could have asked for and it's served me very well so far :)

I got a "Ecler limited edition Cut La Roc Hak 380 Nemesis"

I got number 4 out of the 10 used by Cut La Roc too break the world record of simultaneously mixing on 20 decks and 10 mixers!

Check it out... http://futuremusic.com/blog/?p=491

Cost me a fair few quid more than i wanted to spend when i went to buy a new mixer but when i see it i could help myself lol.

time to upgrade what? soundwise you already have a top of the line mixer. If you need more channels then I´d say go for an empath or xone92, or the 42 if you only need 2 phono preamps.

I use a ttm56 myself.
