Do you buy vinyl?

I have a decent sized collection from buying vinyl over the years. I quit buying electronic music on vinyl a year or so ago tho. I never sell them, I am not a collector so why bother. I can't afford them anymore anyway. I can't even afford MP3's right now, been relying on producers donating them to my poverty stricken ass.
Oh and I still do buy vinyl tho, just old records now, Jazz and classic rock and shit.

Don't think I'll ever stop, been doing so for nearly 10 years, the difference in sound is well worth it. Admitted if your just playing on a bedroom stereo you may not notice between cd/mp3 & wax, but the minute you get on a big stack it SHOWS. To be honest if dubstep started out solely on digital i don't think I'd even listen to it, it was the whole 'plate' thing that got me interested. Big up all the labels still pressing, especially the ones who ONLY press, no digital, & a big fuck you to anyone uploading (or downloading) vinyl rips, dickheads

Yes. Although not nearly as much as I used to.. record shops have become a bit scarce these days unfortunately , and buying vinyl online seems a bit risky.. though I do it once in a while. I still buy loads of older vinyl though as crate digging is still one of my hobbies, I usually go 2 or 3 times a month.

No.
I bought a lot of vinyl from the late 80s to the early 00s. Then I got a decent PC and switched to buying CDs and digital files.
The last vinyl record I bought was my first ever dubstep purchase - a Plasticman 12" towards the end of 2004. I've got hundreds of records in other genres. I bought mainly vinyl from the late 80s when I was in my early teens onwards.
I like vinyl but it's expensive to manufacture which means it's expensive to buy. I do recognise the difference in sound quality but I'm not a DJ so I'm not playing my music through a massive system - just through HiFi speakers or headphones at home. CDs and decent quality MP3s are both good enough for the way I listen to music and are much more affordable.

But seriously, why?Godflesh Fiend wrote:I only buy vinyl.
I feel violated If I buy a cd.
Like I said, I bought mostly vinyl for fifteen years. It's not that I don't know the difference but if anything I feel more "violated" by spending £5 / £6 on two tracks I can buy for £1.79 at Boomkat or about the same on a CD album or compilation.
Should I move this to the unpopular opinions thread on the Ninjas forum?
