Seems like even locally people will think you are an asshole because you didn't come off the stage and shake the hand of every mother fucker in the club. I try to but come on.Joe Muggs wrote:You've got to think, though, that some nights a DJ has no choice about being in a club. They could be in the worst mood, feel ill, have heard some bad news or whatever - anyone else would go "fuck it, I'm not going out tonight", but they have to go out because it's their job to be there.GorillaBearBear wrote:to be fair I can understand sometimes these dudes might not want to be chatted to by strangers - everyone has nights like that - but yeah, it would certainly reflect better on them if they were at least civil about saying that.
What I'm saying is you don't know the circumstances behind this incident. Yeah, it's not polite, but there could be more to it than just the person being an arsehole.
Being nice....does it matter?

I would never think of even going up to a producer I loved in a crouded club because if everyone did that it would be mayhem... unless maybe... it was youngsta... but I could always got to BM for that
If I was outside the club before it opened.. no one around or whatever then yeah... but not when there are 100s of fans all around.

TBH I don't bother them either. I have seen my favorite football players out and about too and I never said anything. So cringeworthy asking for a autograph or saying I am such a big fan! I just can't be that guy. If I actually do have something to say to them or ask them that isn't one of those things then sure I will. The thing that kills me is that the electronic music scene is so small, it isn't like the paparazzi is following Benga around. I kinda lol when dj's have a rockstar mentality. That said I have had a couple freinds, local guys, that have been asked for thier autograph so jokes to me.adisize wrote:I would never think of even going up to a producer I loved in a crouded club because if everyone did that it would be mayhem... unless maybe... it was youngsta... but I could always got to BM for that

I have talked with loads of big DJ's and producers and all of them were nice enough. More than once did one come hang out, smoke and chill afterward too. SPL came to the barbeque at the record shop the next day lol. Obviously some aren't going to be all enthusiastic at 4am+ after a flight and a set, but no negative experiences to mention. I don't see anything wrong with saying hey and thanking someone for coming out and playing a good set. Just learn when to shut up haha.
that reminded me of www.loldjs.comabZ wrote:I kinda lol when dj's have a rockstar mentality.
