Argh!!!! NO!!!
I've got so far with this tune and I'm really desperate to finish it, but writers block has emerged!
What do you guys do to overcome it?

Collaborate!
That's how bands do it. They just bounce off each other when they get stuck.
But really, there's not much you can do about it apart from "save as", and then work on the new save until you start to get your flow back. "Save as" is a godsend, because if you have a quality tune you're proud of it's a lot harder to fuck it up if you "save as".
Writer's block only seems to dissappear of it's own accord...

Try clicking on this link when you've ran out of ideas. It randomly picks a solution for you.

I agree with the "save as" advice.
Save as, and then massacre it. you might get a whole knew exciting direction, or something that would be good in the original version, or at worst nothing will happen

Yeah that is a good thing to do. I have a network of producers on AIM if I don't feel like I am going to finish a tune I will just stem it up and send it to someone.Karmacazee wrote:Collaborate!

I am usually able to finish tho. If I think nothing more can be done I usually just call it finished. Just extend it to the proper length and say fuggit.

There lies your problem, you're distracted, go to your interview and imagine the rooms lights dim halfway through, the soft sound of syncopated drums and a waaawobwob waaa bass emerges, the interviewer dude stands up and starts doing some crazy ass dance moves, he says "Man you're sick, can I have this on a 320?" you say " yeah man, can I have the job" he says "it's yours"
Now the tunes he was dancing too, is your inspiration, now go write it

Leave it for a week and work on something else. Or simply do something else, draw, design whatever you do next to making music. Hell watch that hypnotise box in the living roomPsylent wrote:I've got so far with this tune and I'm really desperate to finish it, but writers block has emerged!

Then get back to it and you'll see you will have all kinds of new ideas!
