Post by dj dm » Sun Aug 23, 2009 9:15 pm

Just discovered downloading vsts & au's, looking for something new to make 'wah' type sounds bassline/niche style. And any other nice bass sounds while im at it, any suggestions?
Cheers, bless

you'll make most sounds with most synths but each will sound completely different :) and similar lol

id go google free vsts there are hundreds

try them out keep what you like

discard / delete what you dont

there are a few popular ones but you have to buy them.

have a look for making bass on youtube and you'll get a good insight into which synths different producers use ;0)

The Plugins by ROB PAPEN are killer machines for dubstep as well:

To name the Synths:

- Rob Papen's Predator (!!)
- Rob Papen's SubBoomBass (!!)
- Rob Papen's Albino 3.0
- Rob Papen's Blue
- ...

Demos downloadable =)

I like using the TAL plugins...Bassline and Elek7ro are the obvious ones, but I've gotten some great bassline sounds from the ones that emulate vintage synths.

The Pancetta preset is the "wah" sound you are looking for. Super easy.

PC and DOS only though :(

Us Mac users are always screwed.

Have you been able to get HAM Vst to work? Let me know and let me know what wrapper. My mate uses it in Fruity Loops and I would love to use it on my mac.

I suggest using inbuilt synths more. I have recently switched to ableton, and have realized I don't need all these bass vsts, operator lets me create absolute filth and automate it so precisely that I doubt I will even reinstall albino/massive. Inbuilt synths are the most underrated tool avalible to producers these days because people would rather get something that makes a fat sound quickly then get to know the tools to sculpt a better sound out of tools they already own.

cant get massive or albino to work, just got crystal though & its a beast! Gonna have a play around wi it now.
& dont get me wrong jjbutler, i use all the inbuits synths but after awhile it gets boring & its hard not to end up with loads of tracks sounding the same, always fun to mess around wi something new.
