Only Time - Dj.ik Dubstep Remix

Post by dj.ik » Sun Aug 23, 2009 9:53 am

I'm looking for feedback on levels and presence in the mix as I only have headphones to mixdown on.

I know this remix would blatantly require permission from the artist and label, but I gather that 'as long as you are not making money, there's no reason for a law suit'...am I right? I certainly wouldn't wanna run into any legal problems if I'm wrong about that.

Also, I might be thinking of changing the hi hats, dunno if they are 'flowing' how I would like them....

What do you guys reckon?

Snare VS kick is a bit too loud, or the kick lacking of volume
The bass is really great but maybe to loud too
it's only my opinion. I'm not a producer but I listening to this track on Bose systeme with subwoofer
Cheers 8)

Thanks ' kraftpeanutbutterbear '

These types of opinions are exactly what I need....

I have managed to a-b the track on other crappy stereo systems but nothing worthy of being able to reproduce all the frequencies in there.

Any more thoughts???

hey man just had a listen to your new version of the track, was very impressed. is a big tune you have there. not sure what it was like before, but the drums are sounding very nice to me. the levels sound cool too. only thing that i could say is you need a bit more distinction before the drop, not too sure how, but it felt like it just fell into it. other than tht very solid work man, i love the vocal, works really well :)

an yeh you only need to worry about a law suit if your makin money off it an cutting them out haha
check my stuff, newest tune is called "Through Your Eyes". feedback is always very appreciated!

Biggup Ambisonicz for the appreciation...

I was thinking of boosting the levels and adding some compression for a final mixdown, there's lots of room to do so...

What do you guys think?

Also, I'll send out 320's if people think its worthy of the dancefloor.....just hard to tell in these damn headphones.

Thanks

...and I wouldn't have expected to. You did some good things with subtle ways that sounds change
