one thing i know for sure that helps with writers block is to listen to something else completely different then what your making.
Sit back and listen to some jazz or classical!
good luck!!

If I get stuck...which is quite often, cos I get annoyed about not having monitors or headphones and my computer not being able to man up anyway...
Well I go do summat else. Sometimes I'll just listen to different styles of music altogether, I'll go back and listen to music I was into a few years back and listen to see why I liked it so much and if I still liked it...and then try figure out why - like maybe how the high hats have been processed or how the kick sounds - and then incorporate that into the tune I got stuck on when/if I go back to it... I have no idea if this makes sense to anyone else!
But yeah if that doesn't work and I can't get any inspiration from anywhere, then I leave it. I may go back to it someday...tho I have now got a years worth of folders with unfinished beats in them. I should probably go through these and find bits to resample and reuse...but I'm lazy.
Just try listening to summat else from a completely different genre maybe and figure out what it is specifically that you like about that song, then think about how you might be able to use that idea in your song. Its not copying, its inspiration innit

Re: Argh!!!! NO!!!
Copy a couple of bars and wipe it clean but have the same sounds. Make something new, different, using the same sounds. Do this a couple of times to add a bit more. Try add some fills, breakdowns, changes at the end of some 16/32/64s etc. Replace some hits with another sound. Automate FX levels differently in different places.Psylent wrote:I've got so far with this tune and I'm really desperate to finish it, but writers block has emerged!
What do you guys do to overcome it?
Job done.
Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.
